Gallow Green is a charming rooftop bar located at the McKittrick Hotel in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City, home of the popular show, Sleep No More and the fine dining restaurant, The Heath. And, this bar has its own special theatrical charm.

The rustic garden setting with overflowing planters and climbing vines is complimented by interesting touches like the train track that runs along the floor and becomes an integral part of the entry area. There is a wide variety of seating options from the long picnic style tables, to comfortable benches and intimate tables for two. This is an all-weather spot with a canopy that will keep you dry even when there is rain in the forecast. Yet, subtle lighting, and soft banners waving above you keep the feel totally open and airy.

We are impressed by their inventive and delightful drink menu. Punches work well for small groups like their signature Gallow Green Punch ($70). Their distinctive cocktails are all $15. We enjoyed their McKittrick Mule, their inventive take on the Moscow Mule, with Monkey Shoulder blended Scotch. Their Yellow Leaf is a refreshing citrus blend with Woody Creek Vodka. They feature a great selection of draft beer ($7) and bottled beer ($8) and a fine wine list by the glass or bottle. If you like Juleps, you will enjoy an especially light and lovely choice, their Champagne Julep ($16).

With seasonal specialties, it is easy to pair food and drink. Rooftop lettuces ($14), Fried Green Tomatoes ($10) Apple Cobbler ($10), Crispy Smashed Creamer Potatoes ($10) Porkloin Sandwich ($16) Chicken Brochettes ($13) are just some of the wonderful menu selections.

And did we mention the view? It is as superb as the drinks, the service and the food. Gallow Green is an ideal spot after work, for friendly get-togethers, and on date night. Take the elevator at the McKittrick Hotel up, up, to a relaxing space and experience a vibe that is truly unique to the New York bar scene.
