There's one way to describe Duet Brasserie, delightful. Outstanding cuisine is coupled with a casual, yet stylish atmosphere featuring seating with windows on the world of the West Village. They also have an elegant upstairs dining room that is perfect for parties and corporate gatherings.

From the warm welcome at the door to the gracious service and delicious food, Duet Brasserie is sure to attract people from near and far. Whether you visit morning to enjoy the ambiance of a neighborhood café or come by for lunch or dinner, you will find this spot ideal. We also suggest you stop by the bar to relax and enjoy their fine selection of wines, beer and inspired cocktails.

World- renowned Executive Chef, Dmitry Rodov and his wife, Executive Pastry Chef, Diana Rodov are behind the concept of Duet Brasserie. The restaurant's fabulous baked goods are from Diana Rodov's popular Brooklyn shop, Duet Bakery. This couple is the perfect duet to launch such a distinctive eatery.

We stopped by on a weekday evening and enjoyed a sampling of Chef Rodov's innovative dishes. Even traditional fare takes on new twists with perfectly seasoned vegetables, seafood and meat dishes. And while portions are ample, the presentation is picture-perfect.

We started our meal with their Organic Farmers Salad ($15). And Duet Brasserie has one of the best Raw Bar selections in the neighborhood that includes Kumamoto Oysters and Chilled Lobster. Even gourmet enthusiasts will appreciate the perfection of the Classic French Onion Soup ($13) with gruyere cheese. Brie en Croute ($14) has the flakiest pastry shell and is complemented by wild mushrooms.

The selection of main courses ranges from tender beef dishes like their Grilled Orange Chipotle Skirt Steak ($32) to the freshest seafood choices like their Flounder ($26). Guests can also enjoy simpler fare like the Kobe Beef Burger or Lobster Burger (both $17) that is served with one side. For a small group, we suggest their Seafood in a Pot ($60) that serves four easily.

And, of course, top off your meal with luscious treats like Opera Cake, Seasonal Fruit or Chocolate Soufflé.

Duet Brasserie also has a Prixe Fixe menu, a Family Style menu and a Tasting menu. Their Happy Hour is Monday to Friday and includes Bar Bites, Raw Bar specials, draft beers, house wines and a special "Cocktail of the Day."

Duet Brasserie is a very pleasing addition to the West Village restaurant scene. We are certain that you will make it one of your favorites. They are located at 37 Barrow Street, New York, NY 10014. Call the restaurant at (212) 255-5614. The Brooklyn Bakery phone is (718) 676-6219. Visit the restaurant web site for menus and to make reservations at www.duetny.com.
