Greenwich Avenue has never been so welcoming. Visit Chapter One, a stylish American Tavern located in the heart of New York City's West Village. This spot has extraordinary cuisine and superb beverage selections. This is the place for a delicious meal, relaxing brunch, drinks and bar snacks or dessert. Chapter One is a neighborhood restaurant that is a true stand-out.

The bar area is spacious and attractive with high tables, comfortable for you and a few friends. The dining area is stylish, open and elegant, with deep woods complimented by soft lighting. And, the noise level is perfect for conversation. Be sure to make note of the large photo above the chesterfield sofa that depicts the spot 100 years ago, a nice touch that makes Chapter One feel a real part of the area.

Restaurateur, Damian Collins invites his guests to feel completely at home. Collins brings a wealth of hospitality background to Chapter One and his experience makes this eatery and bar outstanding.

We met Executive Chef, Warren Baird whose abundant talents have created cuisine that includes traditional favorites with gourmet flair. There are just enough menu choices to please everyone's tastes. Baird also pointed out that guests should feel totally comfortable about discussing preferences with their server including vegetarian and gluten free choices.

We visited on a Thursday night for dinner and enjoyed sitting in the dining area that opens onto Greenwich Avenue. We started our culinary adventure with two distinctive cocktails, their Clever Lady and their Dark and Stormy. There's also a great selection of spirits, bottled and draft beer, and wines on tap from New York's City Winery. Our server, Melissa, was happy to help us pair our drinks with our meal. We were impressed by the friendly and gracious service.

For starters, try their Beef Tartare ($16), Skate Bites ($12) with napa cabbage poblano slaw, and jalapeño mayo or their classic Spinach Salad ($9).

Entrees include their tender, delicious Smoked Pork Ribs ($24) with beer braised collards and grilled corn relish, a perfectly prepared Burger ($17) with white cheddar, onion jam, potato roll, house bacon and fries, or their Duck Confit ($22) with roasted fennel, patty pan squash and tomato olive vinaigrette.

Sides ($8) are generous, just right for table sharing and include Smashed Fingerlings with horseradish and Baby Beets with vadouvan yogurt and cress.

Original, house- made desserts are exquisite, perfect to top off your meal or to stop by to enjoy with an aperitif. Smoked Chocolate Pudding ($10) or their Warm Carrot Cake ($9) are ideal sweet retreats.

Chapter One presents an incredible array of brunch dishes that include some of our favorites, Ricotta Pancakes, Cured Irish Salmon, Cast Iron Baked Eggs, Buttermilk Biscuits and Maple-Almond Granola. And, brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Chapter One can accommodate any size get-together from a small intimate gathering to a group event or celebration. Stop by and be delighted; Chapter One is sure to please.

Chapter One is located at 33 Greenwich Avenue, New York, NY 10014. For more information, or to make reservations visit their web site at www.chapteronenyc.com or call (212) 842-9146.
