Take a road trip or a train trip and stop at Erie Hotel in Port Jervis, New York for a fantastic dining experience. The charming little city of Port Jervis is in Western Orange County at the scenic junction of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It is known as the gateway to the Upper Delaware River.

Rich in railroad history, Port Jervis has served as a transportation center for hundreds of years. The Erie Hotel was built in 1890 when the Erie Lackawanna Railroad was bustling. The restaurant interior has a classic turn of the century feel with cozy booths, comfortable tables and railroad memorabilia. You'll admire the German hand-carvings from the late 1800's at the spacious bar. This welcoming restaurant has been owned and operated by the Brink/McKeevy family since 1976.

We dined on a Sunday evening and enjoyed their delightful fare, great ambiance and friendly, efficient service. The menu has a fine array of choices at a very reasonable price point. Appetizers like their Stuffed Mushrooms or Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail can start off your meal. And there are salads, wraps, sandwiches, specialty burgers and platters that include Fish and Chips. They are totally family friendly offering a "Kid's Menu" for young guests.

We loved the warm, freshly baked breads that arrived at our table including tasty pumpkin bread. The menu has Italian specialties like Eggplant Parmesan and Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo as well as fresh seafood. We ordered a house favorite, Prime Rib of Beef Au Jus served with a fresh salad, potato and a side. The tender beef was cooked to our exact liking. A German specialty, the Veal Jagerschnitzle was perfectly done, lightly breaded and pan-fried topped with delicious sour cream mushroom gravy. Portions are very generous. You will likely have some of your meal to take home. We suggest you take time to relax and enjoy a specialty coffee and a scrumptious dessert like their Carrot Cake, Tiramisu or Cheesecake.

Erie Hotel has a beverage program that is sure to please cocktail enthusiasts and wine lovers. Beer aficionados will appreciate choices on tap like Seadog Sunfish Ale and Guinness Nitro IPA. You might want to just stop off and relax at the bar for a drink and a bite to eat. You'll feel like a hometown regular in no time.

The Erie Hotel serves lunch and dinner seven days a week. Check out daily specials and the Early Bird menu. Summer features outdoor dining and they have a year-round Tiki Bar. They also have a catering facility, Trackside Manor for up to 220 guests. Special events include Tuesday Poker Night/Wing Night; Wednesday Prime Rib Night/Game Night and Thursday Karaoke night/Wing Night.
