Martha Plimpton Charms in HBO's 'How to Make It in America'

Broadway vet Martha Plimpton scored big last night in the debut episode of her new HBO's series, entitled "How To Make It in America." Plimpton stars as Edie Weitz in the series, a self-made interior designer who believes she is saving the world 300-square feet at a time. "How to Make It in America" airs on HBO Sundays at 10pm EST.

"How to Make It in America" follows two enterprising Brooklyn twentysomethings as they hustle their way through New York City, determined to achieve the American Dream. Trying to make a name for themselves in New York's competitive fashion scene, Ben Epstein and his friend and business partner Cam Calderon use their street knowledge and connections to bring their ambitions to fruition.

The cast also stars Bryan Greenberg ("Prime," HBO's "Unscripted"), Victor Rasuk ("Lords of Dogtown," "Raising Victor Vargas"), Luis Guzman ("Anger Management," HBO's "OZ"), Lake Bell ("Boston Legal," "What Happens in Vegas") and hit recording artist Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi ("Day and Night," "Pursuit of Happiness"). The show is executive produced by Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Stephen Levinson, Rob Weiss, series creator Ian Edelman, Emmy-nominated director Julian Farino, Jada Miranda and Mark Wahlberg.

Creator and first-time writer Ian Edelman is collaborating with Emmy nominee Rob Weiss ("Entourage") on many of the show's scripts. The pilot and other episodes of the show are being directed by Julian Farino. Additional writers and directors will be announced as they are confirmed.

2009 Tony Nominee Plimpton has appeared on Broadway in Top Girls, The Coast of Utopia, Cymbeline, and Pal Joey. In addition to starring in Shakespeare in the Park's A Midsummer Night's Dream for the Public Theater, she has appeared in dozens of productions with some of the country's most famed regional theaters including The New York Theatre Workshop, The Steppenwolf Theatre and the Seattle Repertory Theatre. Once a Calvin Klein model, the actress has appeared on screen in The Goonies, Running on Empty, Woody Allen's Another Woman, and the television series Family Ties.
