Marchesa Signs Deal for Fine Jewelry
Marchesa, known for their beautiful gowns and now bridal, is expanding even more into fine jewelry. Designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have inked a licensing deal with Prestige Jewelry to produce their line of jewelry, set to debut this holiday season.
Their debut collection's main focus will be on bridal and serve as a complement to their bridal collection from start to finish. The brand's chief executive office, Edward Chapman, told WWD, "Our bridal business is growing rapidly over the past few years, so it seems like a natural fit to offer jewelry in the market."
The bridal collection will start with 20 different styles including engagement rings, wedding bands, earrings and pendants. The prices will range from $2,000 to $20,000. Then the spring 2015 line will expand into colored gemstones and diamonds. "The bridal business is really a very steady business," said Rajiv Kothari, ceo of Prestige Jewelry. "It's the right place to launch and really get our feet into the market and establish ourselves in that space."
The collection will be available starting in November at select Macy's stores and on macys.com. "Macy's has been a really great business partner for years," Kothari commented. "We really like the direction that Macy's has been taking overall as a company. In terms of retail, they are being very innovative and taking all the right steps to connect with the customer on all the right levels."
