DoSomething.org Teams Up with JCPenney
This month, as part of its charitable giving program, jcp cares, JCPenney is inviting customers to round up their purchases both in-store and online at jcp.com to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to benefit DoSomething.org. Funds raised for DoSomething.org, one of the largest organizations for young people and social change in the U.S., will help provide DoSomething.org members with the information, tools and platform they need to take action on the causes they care about.
"DoSomething.org gives teens an accessible way to make a real impact on the causes they're most passionate about. With the help of DoSomething.org, they have the power to make change happen," said DoSomething.org CEO and Chief Old Person Nancy Lublin. "Our partnership with JCPenney is huge for us because it will help us reach even more teens and allow them to make a significant change in their communities."
With over two million members, DoSomething.org has more than 20 years of experience making social change accessible, fun and meaningful for young people. As a member of DoSomething.org, young people are able to network and be a part of a social change movement with others. They also have access to ideas, activation strategies, promotional collateral and other valuable resources to help them get started. Members can also be eligible for grants to help advance their philanthropic pursuits.
"As a Company founded on the Golden Rule, JCPenney has a strong legacy of giving back, which is why we're thrilled to join forces with an organization that serves as an integral platform in empowering young people to make a difference," said Miki Woodard, jcp cares president and vice president of philanthropy at JCPenney. "From anti-bullying and animal welfare to education, human rights and the environment, by simply rounding up their purchases in September, our customers are helping DoSomething.org members take action in supporting an array of important causes affecting our communities today."
