Three World Premieres, Falla and Flamenco Highlight Peridance's Spring Season 2014, 3/15-23

Peridance Contemporary Dance Company (PCDC) has announced its upcoming New York Spring Season, spanning two weekends: March 15th & 16th and March 22nd & 23rd, 2014. The Company's highly anticipated season will take place at Peridance's resident venue, the Salvatore Capezio Theater.

During the first weekend of performances, the Company will unveil an exciting new repertory with three world premieres by Artistic Director Igal Perry, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago's Robyn Mineko Williams and Nederlands Dans Theater's Alumnus, Bryan Arias. The March 15th performance will also include a special performance by the Peridance Youth Ensemble, in support of the Company's outreach programs.

For the second weekend, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company has been selected to perform in the 2014 NY Flamenco Festival with El Amor Brujo, a masterwork featuring renowned Spanish cantaora Roci?o Baza?n accompanied by the Perspectives Ensemble conducted by Angel Gil- Ordo?n?ez, in an evening of "Falla and Flameco."

PCDC's repertory expands this season with Artistic Director Igal Perry's elegant choreography, often in collaboration with contemporary composers, which have been described as "craftsmanship and admirable choreography" (Jack Anderson, NYTimes), and being "blessedly inventive" (Jennifer Dunning, NYTimes).

Robyn Mineko Williams is a 2013 Princess Grace Choreography Award recipient and a Hubbard Street Dance Chicago alumna. In her new creation for the company Ms. Williams uses personal experience to explore how notions of and alterations in gender affect artistic representations of human interaction and intimate relationships.

A native of Puerto Rico, Choreographer Bryan Arias is a former dancer with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Netherlands Dance Theater, and most recently, Crystal Pite's Kidd Pivot. Mr. Arias is currently a freelance artist in New York City, exploring the lengths of his artistry through choreographing, collaborating, and educating.

The NY Flamenco Festival is dedicated to the promotion of flamenco artists outside of Spain, and has become an international annual event showcasing the leading flamenco names of today.

This season, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company will perform a fully staged production of Manuel de Falla's flamenco masterpiece El Amor Brujo featuring the famous Spanish flamenco cantaora Rocio Baza?n accompanied by Perspectives Ensemble conducted by Angil Gil- Ordo?n?ez. Performance includes Rocio Baza?n singing a flamenco set with guitarist Dani de Moro?n, and songs by Falla and Federico Garci?a Lorca.
