The WICA Family Series is backs to offer world-class artists at affordable ticket prices. Taylor 2 Dance Company will perform on the Michael Nutt Main Stage at WICA on Wednesday, March 6, at 7:30 P.M. Established in 1993, the six-member Taylor 2 Company is known for bringing to life legendary choreographer Paul Taylor's signature dances.

Considered America's greatest living choreographer, Taylor believes "in the power of contemporary dance, its immediacy, its potency, its universality." Few artists of our time have
made the profound impact in their art form that Taylor has on dance for more than six decades. Hallmarks of his style include everyday gestures, and collaboration with visual artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns. Time magazine says, "Paul Taylor is the reigning master of modern dance."

The Taylor 2 Dance Company was specially created for smaller community audiences like
WICA. In selecting repertoire for Taylor 2, Taylor chooses dances that span the broad
spectrum of his ever-growing collection of works, which are known for athleticism, humor, and
range of emotions. Many of his pieces have been re-worked from the original version to enable
Taylor 2 to perform them on tour.

Taylor 2 will present four separate dance productions as part of their performance. Airs, the
first production, first performed in 1978 and features music by Handel. Lento, is the second
production, the music is by Hayden. The third is 3 Epitaphs; showcasing early New Orleans
jazz, it was first performed in 1956. The fourth production, Piazzolla Caldera, features music by
Astor Piazzolla and Jerzy Peterburshsky.

The WICA Family Series was created in 1999 with a goal to help families make the arts a
priority in their lives, and to supplement arts opportunities for the students of South Whidbey.
This series brings high-quality, low-cost family entertainment and cultural events to our
community, as well as education outreach. Each show is offered twice: an evening
performance open to the public; and a free of charge matinee for the Langley Middle School
students, where they have the opportunity to interact, ask questions, and learn about different
cultures and art forms.

In addition to the school matinee, Taylor 2 Dance Company will be offering a master class to select Whidbey Island Dance dancers, by invitation only. Evening performance tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth. Tickets are now available for purchase online at wicaonline.com, by phone at (360) 221-8268, (800) 638-7631 or by visiting the WICA box office at 565 Camano Ave, Langley, WA.
