STREB, New York's Own Action Heroes spring into action with latest edition of their acclaimed, crowd-pleasing, Forces at SLAM (Streb Lab for Action Mechanics), their Williamsburg playground in FORCES, the story of action by the people who live it. Big ideas. Big Hardware. Big Hearts. Big Muscles. All in a big show for the whole family, just in time for the holidays -- today, November 8th through December 22nd at SLAM, 51 North 1st St. Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Elizabeth Streb and her Extreme Action Company have teamed with theater luminaries to give Action a voice and story in Forces. It's the theater of flight and impact, physics and courage, powered by pure adrenaline. Forces is co-directed by RoBert Woodruff (Dog Days, ART), with music by longtime Streb collaborator, David Van Tieghem. It features a book by Jim Lewis (Fela!) and projection design by Wendell Harrington (Grey Gardens) and Erik Pearson. Spatial Rift video design is by Aaron Henderson. Robert Wierzel (Fela!) is the lighting designer and costume design is by Andrea Lauer (Bring It On, American Idiot).

"You'd have to be a little dead inside not to get a visceral thrill from sitting in front of a dancer who takes a 25 foot swan dive and lands-face first-on a mat inches from your feet." Gia Kourlas said in the NY Times. "...The show is a rush, as much for its daredevilry as for the way the cast members work together. Along with the machinery that they're grappling with, there is the group itself: a machine of bodies. And with that comes the realization that these performers, no matter how muscle-bound, are made of flesh and blood. Before a plunging fall, you see it: The eyes glaze over, the spine stiffens and, in that instant, the body springs into action."

In Forces you are so close to the performers, the ingenious hardware, the risk and sweat, you can feel its heft and heat. New Yorkers can experience their Action Heroes in a thrilling live adventure, like an action film without the CGI, like the circus without the smelly elephants--but there is popcorn and cotton candy.
