Check out this video of Desmond Richardson & Wendy Whelan rehearsing in New York City for the upcoming world premiere of "Charter," choreographed by Dwight Rhoden and set to an original score by Nicholas Payton. "Charter" premieres in New Orleans on April 21st as the centerpiece of Complexions Contemporary Ballet.

Richardson and the other featured stars had this to say about the experience:

Dwight Rhoden: "It's been an amazing experience to work with Desmond and Wendy, not only because they are such supreme artists, but it has been a pleasure to watch how generous they are with one another, and to witness the quiet intensity of their very keen focus as this work has taken shape. Together they meld in a way that is surprising and distinctive, bringing together the collective experiences of their iconic careers in a completely rich and cohesive way."

Wendy Whelan: "I have known and admired Desmond for as long as I can remember, but our career paths have never allowed us the opportunity to collaborate until now. This project has been distilling itself, like a fine spirit for almost twenty years. Having such a special piece tailor-made for us by Dwight Rhoden and Nicholas Payton couldn't be more exciting for us."

Desmond Richardson: "Sharing the stage with the incomparable Wendy Whelan and dancing the fantastic choreography of Dwight Rhoden is a huge honor."
