A Tango tale in three parts, Recuerdo reflects on the present, past and everyday life through a series of vignettes. This world premiere features nine outstanding dancers, a live four-piece band, and vocalist Sofia Tosello under the direction of renowned dancer and choreographer Mariela Franganillo and Bob McAndrew, Recuerdo combines both early and modern expressions of tango to explore a variety of forms of memory -ranging in tone from passionate to comical and reaching the boundaries of tender to tormented. Rediscover the vitality of Tango in an evening of impassioned dance.

Dancers include Leah Barsky, Diego Blanco, Hernan Brizuela, Ana Padron, Mariana Parma, Walter Perez and Leonardo Sardella.

MARIELA FRANGANILLO (DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER) is a renowned dancer, choreographer, and producer here in NYC and in her native Buenos Aires, Argentina. She began her career dancing in Los Tangureos at Teatro Cervantes and at Casa Blanca in Buenos Aires. She has taught domestically at Stanford University, Barnard College, NYU, and internationally in Germany, Canada, Italy, and Japan. NYC performing credits include Lincoln Center, Town Hall, and Carnegie Hall with companies such as NY Tango, Piazzolla & Beyond, Avantango, X Tango, and Eternal Tango. On Broadway she was a featured artist of Forever Tango. Important collaborations include Pablo Ziegler at Carnegie Hall and Julio Iglesias on U.S. Tour. She was invited to present her work at Fall For Dance Festival at City Center.

There has been praise for her originally produced shows Tango Noir and Tango Connection Love Stories. She is proudest of her genre bending venture Swango (The Musical), which mixes the two unique styles of Argentinean Tango and West Coast swing. Mariela conceived and choreographed it together with Robert Royston and was joined by Tony Award winner Rupert Holmes on the book.

BOB MCANDREW (CO-DIRECTOR) Bob is one of the most successful and well know acting coaches in the country. He was the head of the talent program at Paramount Pictures for many years, and headed Twentieth Century Fox's talent school. Bob has coached his share of top talent, including Michael Douglas, Christopher Walken, Richard Dreyfuss, Raul Julia, Sela Ward and recent Academy Award winner Chris Cooper.

Ticket prices for Recuerdo Tango at The SchimMel Center for the Arts at Pace University range from $30 to $55. $5 Student balcony tickets are available by calling the box office in advance (212-346-1715) and $5 student rush orchestra tickets (subject to availability) are available on the day of the performance after 12pm with a valid student ID.
