NBC Brings in Big Numbers for the Week in Adults 18-49 with THE VOICE & BLINDSPOT

NBC has delivered an average 1.1 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 5.0 million viewers overall for the primetime ratings week of May 16-22, according to "live plus same day" figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Placing among the top primetime Big 4 telecasts of the week in the key demographic of adults 18-49 are the Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" (tied for #5 and #9 respectively), Tuesday's "Chicago Fire" (tied for #11), Tuesday's "Chicago Med" (tied for #16), Wednesday's "Chicago P.D." (tied for #22), Monday's "Blindspot" (tied for #26), Wednesday's "Law & Order: SVU" (tied for #26) and Thursday's "The Blacklist" (tied for #26).

Season to date, NBC is running within 0.2 of a rating point of #1 of Super Bowl-boosted CBS in adults 18-49.

NBC's total-viewer average of 8.108 million is the network's highest at this point in a season without a SUPER BOWL or Olympic boost since 2006-07 (8.889 million).

Primetime averages for the week of May 16-22 in adults 18-49 are: ABC, 1.4 rating, 5 share; CBS, 1.2/4; NBC, 1.1/4; Fox, 1.0/4; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 6.9 million; ABC, 5.9 million; NBC, 5.0 million; Fox, 3.2 million; and CW, 1.5 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: CBS, 2.3/8; NBC, 2.1/7; Fox, 1.9/6; ABC, 1.8/6; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 10.9 million; NBC, 8.1 million; ABC, 6.8 million; Fox, 5.8 million; and CW, 2.0 million.

NBC highlights for the week of May 16-22:

Monday

NBC won Monday night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and ranked #1 or tied for #1 in all other key demos, while ranking #1 or tied for #1 during six of six half-hours among those nets in adults 18-49.

"The Voice" (2.1/7 in 18-49, 9.5 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) scored as the #1 program of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and ranked #1 or tied for #1 in nearly all other key demographics (excluding men 18-34). "Voice" retained 100% week to week in 18-49 (2.1 vs. 2.1) and 97% in total viewers (9.5 million vs. 9.8 million).

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "Voice" grew by +17% going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" ratings in adults 18-49 (from a 2.06 rating to a 2.42) and by 1.2 million viewers overall (9.5 million to 10.7 million).

"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: So far this season, Monday's "Voice" has grown by +24% going from L+SD to L+7 in 18-49 rating (from a 2.91 to a 3.62) and 2.1 million viewers overall (11.7 million to 13.8 million).

Upscale: Monday's "Voice" has delivered a solidly upscale audience, indexing at a 119 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3). This week's Monday's telecast was the #2 most upscale program on the Big 4 that night, indexing at a 113 among adults 18-49 living in $100K+ homes, behind only the 123 of "Blindspot."

"Blindspot" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) maintained 100% week to week in 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.3). "Blindspot" tied for #1 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 25-54 and finished #1 outright among those nets in men 18-49 and women 18-34. L+3: "Blindspot" grew by +73% going from L+SD to L+3 ratings in 18-49 (1.25 to 2.16) and by 3.0 million viewers overall (5.3 million to 8.3 million). "Blindspot" delivered Monday's biggest L+3 lifts in 18-49 and total viewers. In fact, the +73% gain was the biggest L+SD-to-L+3 lift for any Big 4 Monday telecast in six months (since ABC's "Castle" grew +73% on Nov. 9, 2015). L+7: "Blindspot" has increased by +81% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.92 to a 3.47) and 4.9 million viewers overall (7.1 million to 12.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Blindspot" is generating a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 125 among adults 18-49 living in home with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3). Monday's telecast was the night's most upscale show on the Big 4, indexing at a 123 among adults 18-49 living in $100K+ homes (L+SD).

Tuesday

"The Voice" (1.8/7 in 18-49, 9.0 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) maintained 100% week to week in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.8) and was up +13% versus two weeks earlier (1.8 vs. 1.6). L+3: "Voice" increased by +14% in 18-49 (1.83 to 2.08) and 938,000 viewers (9.0 million to 10.0 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: Tuesday's "Voice" has increased by +25% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.72 to a 3.39) and 2.0 million viewers overall (11.5 million to 13.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: Tuesday's "Voice" has delivered a solidly upscale audience, indexing at a 119 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3).

"Chicago Med" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) maintained 100% week to week in 18-49 (1.6 vs. 1.6), to grow by +23% versus NBC's May 2015 non-"Voice" in-season average in the time period (1.6 vs. 1.3 for comedies) and by +91% in total viewers (7.9 million vs. 4.1 million). "Med" ranked #2 in the slot among the Big 4 in 18-49 and #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in adults 18-34 and all key adult-female demos. L+3: "Chicago Med" increased by +37% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.64 to 2.25) and by 2.2 million persons in total viewers (7.9 million to 10.1 million). L+7: "Chicago Med" has increased by +48% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.72 to a 2.54) and more than 2.8 million viewers overall (7.9 million to 10.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago Fire" (1.7/6 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) grew +6% week to week in 18-49 (1.7 vs. 1.6) to match its highest rating since Feb. 9 (1.8). "Fire" grew +13% versus last year's season finale in 18-49 (1.7 vs. 1.5 on May 12, 2015) and +18% in total viewers (7.908 million vs. 6.659 million) to its most-watched season finale ever. This week's "Fire" ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC by a +55% margin among those nets in the slot in adults 18-49 (1.7 vs. 1.1 for CBS's second-place "Person of Interest"). "Fire" generated its 30thconsecutive time-period win in 18-49 versus regular ABC-CBS competition in the 10-11 p.m. slot when in original, dating back to February 2015. L+3: "Fire" increased by +50% in 18-49 (1.65 to 2.47) and 2.9 million viewers (7.9 million to 10.8 million) going from L+SD to L+3. In fact, the +0.82 gain in 18-49 rating was the biggest L+SD to L+3 lift for any Big 4 Tuesday telecast in six week (since "Fire" grew +0.88 on April 5). L+7: "Chicago Fire" has grown by +62% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.77 to a 2.86) and 3.6 million viewers overall (8.0 million to 11.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

NBC wins the night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-34 and all key adult-female demos.

Wednesday

"Heartbeat" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) maintained +100% week to week in 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.7). L+3: "Heartbeat" grew by +25% in 18-49 (0.67 to 0.84) and 759,000 viewers overall (3.9 million to 4.6 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Heartbeat" has increased by +31% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 0.78 to a 1.02) and 981,000 viewers overall (4.4 million to 5.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) built on its lead-in by +86% in 18-49 and +50% in total viewers on a night of competition from the NBA Playoffs, Fox's "Empire" finale and CBS's "Survivor" finale. L+3: "SVU" increased by +57% in 18-49 (1.29 to 2.03) and 2.2 million viewers (5.8 million to 8.0 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Law & Order: SVU" has grown by +71% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.63 to a 2.79) and 3.0 million viewers overall (7.0 million to 10.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago P.D." (1.4/5 in 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in total viewers, despite special competition from CBS's "Survivor" reunion, growing for a second straight week in total viewers, to its top average since March 2 (7.2 million). In 18-49, "P.D." maintained +100% week to week (1.4 vs. 1.4) to equal its top rating since March 30 (1.5). L+3: "P.D." grew by +58% in 18-49 (from a 1.42 to a 2.24) and 2.9 million viewers overall (6.9 million to 9.8 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Chicago P.D." has increased by +71% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.56 to a 2.67) and more than 3.5 million viewers overall (6.9 million to 10.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Thursday

"Strong" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of the previous week's Nielsens in 18-49 (0.6 vs. 0.7) and within +4% in total viewers (2.494 million vs. 2.597 million). The prior week's telecast added more than 100,000 full-episode views (P2+) in seven days on NBC.com and Hulu (120,798).

"The Blacklist" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) maintained +100% week to week in 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.3) to equal its high since April 14 (1.4). In total viewers, "Blacklist" grew +4% week to week (6.9 million vs. 6.6 million) for its most-watched episode since April 21 (7.0 million). L+3: "Blacklist" increased by +78% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.27 to 2.26) and by 3.6 million persons in total viewers (6.9 million to 10.5 million), generating the biggest lift of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 percentage and total viewers. L+7: "The Blacklist" has grown by +99% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.43 to a 2.84) and 4.8 million viewers overall (6.8 million to 11.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Blacklist" is generating a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 146 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3).

"Game of Silence" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 3.2 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of a point of the prior week's figures in 18-49 (0.6 vs. 0.7) and within 2% in total viewers (3.2 million vs. 3.3 million). L+3: "Game of Silence" grew by +38% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.65 to 0.90) and by 1.1 million persons in total viewers (3.2 million to 4.3 million). L+7: "Game of Silence" has grown by +57% in adult 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 (0.69 to 1.08) and 1.6 million persons in total viewers (3.4 million vs. 5.0 million).

The prior week's episode added more than 300,000 full-episode views (P2+) in seven days on NBC.com (328,814).

Friday

"Grimm" (0.9/4 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) increased +13% week to week in 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.8) and +19% in total viewers (4.0 million vs. 3.4 million in official nationals) to match its 18-49 high since March 18 (1.0) and deliver its most-watched telecast since April 8 (4.3 million). For its first hour from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Grimm" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-49. L+3: The prior telecast of "Grimm" grew by +84% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.75 to 1.38) and 2.0 million persons in total viewers (3.4 million to 5.4 million). The +84% gain in 18-49 was the biggest 18-49 lift of the night on the Big 4. L+7: "Grimm" has increased by +88% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 0.90 to a 1.69) and 2.3 million viewers overall (4.0 million to 6.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Grimm" is capturing a solid upscale audience this season, indexing at a 109 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3).

"Dateline NBC" (0.9/4 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) grew +13% week to week in 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.8) and +2% in total viewers (4.3 million vs. 4.2 million). L+3: The prior week's "Dateline" increased by +36% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.83 to 1.13) and 1.2 million persons in total viewers (4.2 million to 5.4 million). L+7: Friday's "Dateline NBC" has grown by +31% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.02 to a 1.34) and 1.1 million viewers overall (4.8 million to 5.9 million) going from L+SD to L+7.Upscale: "Dateline" delivers a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 110 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

Saturday

NBC Sports 7:15-10 p.m. ET coverage of Stanley Cup Playoff hockey, featuring the St. Louis Blues at the San Jose Sharks (0.6/3 in 18-49, 2.3 million viewers overall from 7:09-10:07 p.m. ET) ranked #1 from 8-10 p.m. in adults 18-49 among the Big 4 nets.

"SNL Vintage" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 1.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET, with an encore of the May 13, 1989 telecast of "Saturday Night Live," hosted by Wayne Gretzky with musical guest Fine Young Cannibals) tied for #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49.

Sunday

"Dateline: On Assignment" averaged a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. Upscale: Sunday's "Dateline" is generating a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 112 among adults 18-49 living in home with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3).

An encore telecast of "Little Big Shots" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 8-9:01 p.m. ET) built on its total-viewer lead-in by +22%.

"The Carmichael Show" delivered a 0.5/1 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall from 9:01-9:30 p.m. ET.L+3: The prior week's "Carmichael" increased by +19% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.80 to 0.95) and 478,000 persons in total viewers (3.6 million to 4.1 million). L+7: "Carmichael" has grown by +19% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.02 to a 1.21) and 536,000 viewers overall (4.6 million to 5.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Crowded" averaged a 0.4/1 in 18-49 and 2.1 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET. L+3: The previous week's "Crowded" increased by +25% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.68 to 0.85) and 519,000 persons in total viewers (3.1 million to 3.6 million). L+7: "Crowded" has grown by +27% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.83 to a 1.05) and 723,000 viewers overall (3.5 million to 4.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Dateline NBC" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) grew half-hour to half-hour in most key measures, including gains of +14% in adults 18-49 (0.7 to 0.8), +22% in adults 25-54 (0.9 to 1.1) and +17% in total viewers (3.5 million to 4.1 million).
