Marin Center will present for the very first time, the brilliantly entertaining, all-male ballet company, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. Delicately stuffed into tutus and man-sized toe shoes, the gender bending company delivers hilarious twists on classical ballet. "The Trocks" perform Sunday, February 22nd, at 3pm, at the Marin Veteran's Memorial Auditorium (10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael.) Tickets are $60, $45, $35 and $25; students (20 & under) $20. For groups of 10 or more, $5 discount per ticket. For more information or to purchase tickets, call Marin Center Box Office at 415.473.6800 or visit marincenter.org

The all-male drag ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, affectionately known as the Trocks, specializes in a loving critique of the conventions and traditions of ballet: campy and hysterical, but informed and beautifully executed. "The Trocks" perform with equal parts comedy and technical prowess, presenting an all-new twist to our favorite classic ballets such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, and Giselle.

"The extraordinary skill of the Trocks proves that to undo ballet, one must first be able to do ballet" (The Telegraph, London).

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, founded in 1974 by a group of ballet enthusiasts for the purpose of presenting a playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form and en travesti, The Trocks first performed in the late-late shows in Off-Off Broadway lofts. But they quickly garnered a major critical essay by Arlene Croce in The New Yorker, and combined with reviews in The New York Times and The Village Voice, established the Company as an artistic and popular success.

By mid-1975, the TROCKS' inspired blend of their loving knowledge of dance, their comic approach, and the astounding fact that men can, indeed, dance en pointe without falling flat on their faces, was being noted beyond New York. Articles and notices in publications such as Variety, Oui, The London Daily Telegraph, as well as a Richard Avedon photo essay in Vogue, made the Company nationally and internationally known.
