DancerPalooza, a comprehensive one-of-a-kind dance experience, the "Coachella" for the dance world, will bring together the industry's top professional choreographers, including Mandy Moore and Travis Wall, who were both just nominated for 2014 Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Choreography for "So You Think You Can Dance" on FOX.

DancerPalooza will also feature master teachers, professional dancers, dance students of all ages and dance fans under one roof for the first time ever for an exclusive week-long event from today, July 22 through 27, 2014 at the Long Beach Convention Center. Over 5,000 dancers and enthusiasts covering the wide spectrum of the field are expected to participate in this six-day festival.

DancerPalooza features a wide variety of opportunities for everyone interested in dance -- from professionals to the general public -- including the three-day Beat Street, (offered Friday July 25 through Sunday July 27) a dance expo hall that features special performances, Crash Courses (workshops throughout the day), and nightly ticketed performances in the intimate 825 seat Center Theater with some of the hottest names and ensembles in dance today including the works of Stacey Tookey, Jaci Royal, Movement Lifestyle, and the return of Shaping Sound to the stage after a sold-out 13-city national tour -- a chance for the public to see the work of choreographers and dancers that all of the industry is talking about.

DancerPalooza also features week-long intensives concentrating on a variety of styles including -- contemporary, tap, hip-hop, jazz funk and Broadway, giving all a chance to work with leading professionals from the dance world, all culminating in a performance or video presentation of the week's work.

The intensive team leaders include an array of some of the most visible and known dancers working today, giving all participants professional level training including Mandy Moore (Three - time Emmy Award nominee, "So You Think You Can Dance", "Dancing With The Stars"), Travis Wall (Three -time Emmy Award nominee, "So You Think You Can Dance" finalist and Oxygen TV Reality Star), Mia Michaels (Emmy Award Winning choreographer and former "So You Think You Can Dance" Judge), tWitch ("So You Think You Can Dance" All-Star, star of "Step Up" and frequent "Ellen" guest DJ), Kenny Wormald ("Footloose" star), Stacey Tookey ("So You Think You Can Dance" judge and choreographer) and Andy Blankenbuehler (Tony Award Winning Choreographer, In The Heights).

Beat Street - during the day Friday July 25 through Sunday July 27

Beat Street (a unique expo hall and performance stage) will be in operation and feature the following:

  • Crash Courses -- Workshop classes throughout Beat Street! These open classes for all ages and all styles will also be offered for three days, July 25-27 which gives dancers the opportunity to create their own schedule choosing from various choreographers and styles. Stacey Tookey's Still Motion presents: Moments Defined. A multi-disciplinary dance performance that will capture the essence and raw emotion of moments that shape and define our existence. Still Motion Dance Company is Stacey Tookey's Los Angeles-based dance company. A MAN'S WORLD - Saturday, July 26, 5pm
"A Man's World" is the first full-length work from the 2013's Studio of Year 'JCSOD.' Through passion and versatility, the dancers tell the story of a lonely man, looking for love. In a simpler era, where human connection thrived, music and dance brought two people closer then ever before.

Dance Intensives

Six different Intensives will be offered during the festival. Each culminates in a performance or film developed throughout the intensive.

The Collective - contemporary dance ages 13 to adult - The most in-demand contemporary artists of our time in six intense days of classes and rehearsal. It culminates in a video shoot that pulls these artists and the dancers together, creating one of the most exciting events of the festival. Who: Mandy Moore, Mia Michaels, Travis Wall, Sonya Tayeh, Stacey Tookey, Teddy Forance, Benoit- Swan Pouffer and more.

Pool Party - Pool Party is specifically geared towards dancers ages 7-12. Participants will be taking Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Hip-Hop every morning. Each afternoon, the dancers will be rehearsing for the live closing event, a pool party held outside on the lawn with choreography incorporating over 20 inflatable mini pools. Who: Ivan Koumaev, Kim McSwain, Nick Lazzarini, and tWitch, are joining forces for a week filled with dance and fun!

Slide - Tap master Mike Minery leads participants in a premiere classic tap event -- one week packed with classes and rehearsal, featuring the music of Frank Sinatra. At Slide, there will be a top-rate workshop with DancerPalooza's world-renowned tap faculty teaching sessions at both Beginner/Intermediate and Advanced levels, followed by intense rehearsals for the closing show. Who: Anthony Morigerato, Anthony Russo, Danny Wallace, Melinda Sullivan, and Mike Minery.

KaMotion -- International dance superstars Misha Gabriel and Kenny Wormald unite to lead a week-long intensive dedicated to Hip-Hop. Non-stop classes, events, and special performances will end in a professional music video directed personally by Misha Gabriel and Kenny Wormald. Who: Misha Gabriel, Kenny Wormald, tWitch, and Willdabeast.

Bobby's Beat Camp -- Take Bobby, add in Hollywood, the California heat, AND the most sought-after choreographers in the industry and the result is BOBBY'S BEAT CAMP! From agency auditions to a full-out photo shoot for every attendee, this is THE place to jumpstart commercial dance careers. The workshop is for Intermediate/ Advanced level dancers, ages 13-25, and includes over 20 classes in jazz funk and hip-hop. Who: Bobby Newberry, Blake McGrath, Jaquel Knight, Miguel Zarate, Sheryl Murakami, Taja Riley, and Tucker Barkley.

Marquee -- Get a sneak peek into what it takes to make it on Broadway! Spend a week with Broadway's best choreographers, music directors, and acting coaches as they teach participants how to reach their goal of a Broadway debut. The week will combine classes in theatre dance, vocal lessons, and acting workshops all culminating in a final performance of a Broadway production number.
