Katie Schaar to Lead 7th Annual Evening of Dance Master Classes at Merrimack Hall, 12/27-29

Merrimack Hall will host its Seventh Annual Evening of Dance Master Classes, December 27-29, 2013. Space is limited and spots are filling quickly for the 2013 Master Classes with guest choreographer Katie Schaar.

Katie will be here in conjunction with our 7th Annual Evening of Dance, a weekend of dance showcasing performance and choreography talent from across the Southeast.

Each year Merrimack Hall commissions a choreographer to audition dancers and set an original piece of choreography to be performed onstage during the Evening of Dance. Don't miss your chance to be a part of this year's Community Piece or to take classes with one of the best dancers in the country!

This year, master classes will be held in December over a three-day period to accomodate more students. At this time, our guest choreographer, Katie Schaar, will set the Community Piece, which will be performed in January at the Evening of Dance.

The cost of the 3-day workshop is $75.00 including 2 master classes for each age group - 16 and under (minimum age of 12) and 17 and older - and an audition class. Community pieces will be cast through the audition class, but feedback will also be given to dancers to better themselves for future auditions. Katie Schaar is originally from Dallas, TX and now resides in Los Angeles, CA. Since earning her BA degree from Loyola Marymount University, she has gone on to have a diverse career as a professional dancer. From a young age, Katie was recognized for her versatility as a dancer, her collaborative spirit, her intellect, and her strong teaching ability; and she began working as an assistant choreographer to the industry's most respected choreographers.

In this role, she has worked extensively alongside Tyce Diorio, Mia Michaels, RJ Durell, Nick Florez, and Michael Rooney; and has had the opportunity to work closely with such stars as Katy Perry, P!NK, Cher, Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta Jones, Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Annie Lennox, Katie Holmes, Paula Abdul, Jordin Sparks David Hasselhoff, and Megan Mulally.

Recently, Katie assisted RJ Durell and Nick Florez in choreographing for P!NK's latest album. This body of work includes "The Truth About Love" world tour, the "Try" music video, and P!NK's show-stopping live performance of "Try" at the American Music Awards!
