KANSAS CITY, MO (July 7, 2015) - Kansas City Ballet will present the 5th Annual KC Dance Day at the Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity on Saturday, Aug. 29th from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The full day will feature FREE dance performances, classes, demonstrations and FUN for the whole family. In addition to free classes, attendees will enjoy performances, prize drawings, giveaways and relaxing under the tent with food and beverages available for purchase from Two Guys and a Grill. Pre-registration for classes is recommended. Visit kcballet.org or register in person the day of the event.

"KC Dance Day is the kick-off event of the new dance season. Hundreds of Kansas Citians will join us all day long for this open house and fun-filled day of dance," stated Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director Devon Carney. "All are welcome to come enjoy. And as a bonus, we'll show a sneak peek into a work being prepared for the season as well as some short selections danced by our Kansas City Ballet Second Company."

FREE Children's and Adult Dance Classes

Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Classes start at 9:15 a.m. and continue until 4:45 p.m.

Choose from more than 20 FREE dance and movement classes from the Kansas City Ballet School. Classes available for children include in Creative Movement (ages 3-5), Pre-Ballet (ages 6-7) and Kid's Ballet (ages 8-11). FREE classes for adults ages 12 and up include: Zumba®, Modern, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Contemporary, plus demonstrations of our five Pilates Reformer machines. There also will be World Dance classes for all ages from Ireland, Greece, Spain, Phillipines, Africa (tentative), Native America (tentative), Mexico and more. Twenty minute performances begin at 3:10 p.m., including Störling Dance Theater, Seamless Dance Theatre (tentative), Defy and Allegro Ballroom.

Open Rehearsal by artists of Kansas City Ballet & Kansas City Ballet Second Company

5:15 - 5:45 p.m.

Followed by a brief "Meet the Artists of KC Ballet" reception from 5:45 to 6 p.m.

Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., served by Two Guys & a Grill. Choose from $6 meal options: hamburger, veggie burger, hotdog or chicken breast plus chips and bottled water.

Between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. we will offer a free shuttle trolley from the Union Station Garage parking to the Bolender Center.
