TONY winner, silver screen siren, TV icon and the ultimate feline in human form, Julie Newmar, to appear on Saturday June 25th (11:00am - 1:00pm) at CatConLA 2016 with her brother and author of "The Mediterranean Universe," John Newmeyer, featuring the subject of ... what else? ... Cats! The convention with catittude will be held on June 25th and 26th at The Reef in downtown Los Angeles.

Julie Newmar is the original (and to many, the only) Catwoman from the hit series Batman. Julie won a Tony for her acting role on Broadway in the hit comedy "Marriage-Go-Round," and she was immediately accepted by the prestigious Actors Studio. Loving dance, she continued to star in Bob Fosse's musicals on and off Broadway. She toured nationally with Joel Grey in "Stop the World I Want to Get Off." She guest-starred in many now-favorite TV episodes, on shows such as "The Monkees," "Columbo," "The Bionic Woman," "Get Smart," "Star Trek," "Bewitched," "The Beverly Hillbillies," "Twilight Zone," "Route 66," and the cult classic "My Living Doll," as well as movies such as "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" or "Mackenna's Gold." The part she's most fondly remembered for is Catwoman, in the original Batman television series. In 1995, Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment produced a movie named after her, "To Wong Foo,Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar." In the film, Julie appeared as herself. As an author ("The Concious Catwoman Explains Life on Earth") with cutting-edge sensibility, Julie hs become a sensation in social media.

Author John Newmeyer visualizes cats not as pets but as masters proud, capable, and fierce-just as portrayed by his sister Julie, the original Catwoman. We now know there are quintillions of planets in the Universe. Surely many have life, and surely much of that life is intelligent and feline! "The Mediterranean Universe" imagines such life- as seen in Lionesses Who Lunch- as expressed in the adventures of Felix the Cat-Man, and as probed in thoughtful essays about cats.

John Newmeyer was educated at Caltech and Harvard. The Mediterranean Universe is his fourth book, inspired by his lifelong passion for cats- and by his sister Julie, the original Catwoman, who contributed an irreverent biographical sketch. John also created Heron Lake Winery in THE HILLS of Napa, which has made and sold premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines for 30 years. He has traveled to the seven continents- most particularly South Africa, where his observation of THE SOCIAL LIFE of lionesses inspired his new book's subtitle, "Imagining Feline Civilization".
