International ice dance sensation the Imperial Ice Stars bring the Toronto premiere of Sleeping Beauty on Ice to the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts for three shows only: Friday, November 20 at 7:30pm and Saturday, November 21 at 2:00pm and 7:30pm. Tickets for this spectacular ice ballet, featuring twenty-three of the best figure skaters in the world, can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 1-855-872-SONY (7669), visiting www.sonycentre.ca or in person at the Sony Centre Box Office.

The award-winning Imperial Ice Stars, making a triumphant return to Toronto for the first time in seven years, are the world's leading performers of theatrical ice-skating. Acclaimed Artistic Director Tony Mercer takes contemporary ice dance to a new level, inspiring the Olympic, World, European and National Championship skaters (with more than 200 medals between them) to perform feats so daring and complex they haven't yet been named!

Four tons of crushed ice will turn the stage of the Sony Centre into a magical ice rink where the ensemble will glide, defy gravity and soar through the air! Ballet on blades at speeds of up to 50 kilometres per hour!

Set to Tchaikovsky's magnificent music, Sleeping Beauty on Ice will captivate audiences of all ages as it tells this timeless fairytale love story through astonishing high-speed leaps and throws, graceful and sublime ice dancing, awe-inspiring acrobatics and aerial gymnastics, stunning stilt skating and jaw-dropping visual effects.

Over the last 10 years, the Imperial Ice Stars have performed over 2,000 shows in more than 23 countries across five continents, gaining a worldwide following for their sophisticated portrayals of classic works.

Their previous world tours (Cinderella on Ice, Swan Lake on Ice - presented at the Sony Centre in 2008 - and The Nutcracker on Ice) have been greeted with nightly standing ovations and five-star reviews at some of the world's most prestigious venues - London's Royal Albert Hall and Sadler's Wells, Singapore's Esplanade Theatre, and Cape Town's Artscap. Founded in 2004 by James Cundall, one of the leading producers of live entertainment in Asia and Australia, and Tony Mercer, widely regarded as the world's foremost creator of contemporary theatre on ice, The Imperial Ice Stars continue to break new ground in the genre of ice dancing, elevating the art form and broadening its appeal.
