Hudson Valley Dance Festival Set for Today

Hudson Valley Dance Festival, a world-class dance experience in the heart of Catskill, NY, returns today, October 10, 2015, featuring four of the most captivating dance companies in the country all on one program. The one-performance-only event at the Historic Catskill Point is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The third annual Hudson Valley Dance Festival (#hvdance) will feature:

? Brian Brooks Moving Company, a renowned dance company and a regular at The Joyce Theater, showcasing "Torrent," an expansive piece fluctuating between orderly patterns and unrestrained turbulence, originally commissioned by Juilliard Dance.

? The Chase Brock Experience, a Brooklyn-based contemporary dance company led by Chase Brock, premiering a new piece by its celebrated founder known for his astonishing Broadway productions and independent dance choreography.

? Jessica Lang Dance, famous for its mastery of visual composition and incorporation of striking design elements, presenting "Lines Cubed," a piece inspired by the paintings of Dutch artist Piet Mondrian exploring line and color and their relation to emotions and mood.

? Martha Graham Dance Company, celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, presents Nacho Duato's "Rust," an all-male dramatic quintet stirring up awareness of the plagues of terrorism and violence today.

Tickets for Hudson Valley Dance Festival are on sale now at dradance.org or by phone at 212.840.0770, ext. 229. Tickets range from $40-$250. Sponsorship opportunities also are available. Sponsor benefits include a pre-performance cocktail reception, recognition on printed and online materials along with an intimate VIP reception following the performance.

In just two years, Hudson Valley Dance Festival (#hvdance) has raised an impressive $198,075 for those most vulnerable among us. The money raised helps Broadway Cares provide grants to AIDS and family service organizations nationwide, including several based in the Hudson Valley. Among the area organizations awarded grants in 2015 were Community Hospice and Matthew 25 Food Pantry in Catskill, Alliance for Positive Health and Animalkind in Hudson, TOUCH (Together Our Unity Can Heal) in Congers and Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center in Kingston.

Dancers Responding to AIDS relies on the extraordinary compassion and efforts of the performing arts community to fund a safety net of social services for those in need. As a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, DRA supports the essential programs of The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative and The Dancers' Resource as well as more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations in all 50 states. Through these organizations and programs, DRA and Broadway Cares help to ensure that those in need have access to lifesaving medication, health care, counseling, nutritious meals and emergency financial assistance.
