Gary Busey and Paul Sorvino Attend Sunscreen Film Fest in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, Fla. - Sunscreen Film Festival -- the longest running mainstream film festival in Tampa Bay -- has announced celebrity guest appearances by Gary Busey and Paul Sorvino, with other notable film MAKERS and directors from Lionsgate and other major entertainment companies expected during the 2016 Festival.

Presented by the St. Petersburg Clearwater Film Commission, the 11th annual festival returns to St. Petersburg Thursday, April 28 through Sunday, May 1 featuring more than 140 independent films.

Busey has appeared in over 150 films, including Lethal Weapon and Point Break. He has also made several guest appearances on shows such as Texas Ranger, Law & Order, Scrubs and Entourage.

Busey will appear in the Sunscreen Film Festival narrative feature film Candiland, screening on Saturday, April 30. Rusty Nixon's Candiland, adapted from the critically acclaimed book "Candyland" by Elizabeth Engstrom, features Gary Busey as ARNIE "God", a retired marine with a son who has gone against the grain of his father's soul. Nixon who directed and stars in the film, will also attend the Festival.

Sorvino is best known for his role in the gangster film Goodfellas as well as his role in the television series Law & Order.

Sorvino will appear in the Suncreen Film Festival narrative feature film Detours screening on Saturday, April 30. Sunscreen Film Festival marks the world premiere screening of Detours, starring Sorvino as Joe DiMaria in a film best described as a hilarious road trip comedy in which a newly single New Yorker must re-locate to Florida for her dream job. Also making an appearance at the Festival, are film maker Mara Lesemann and star/producer Tara Westwood.

Busey will attend the opening night red carpet event on Thursday, April 28, while Busey and Sorvino will both be in attendace at the awards ceremony on Saturday, May 1.

"Their involvement is a testament to the quality films, innovative film MAKERS and top talent the festival attracts, and we're thrilled to welcome them to St. Pete."

The Sunscreen Film Festival will kick off with the screening of Spare Parts, starring George Lopez, Marissa Tomei and Jamie Lee Curtis. A complete list of selected films can be found here. Single day passes, VIP passes and single film showing tickets are available for purchase here.

In addition to film screenings, Sunscreen Film Festival will once again offer attendees the opportunity to develop their own craft by participating in educational workshops taught by film industry experts. The Festival will also feature evening parties and events, including a celebrity meet and greet, an Opening Night party, VIP events and more.

The Sunscreen Film Festival is organized and presented by the St. Petersburg-Clearwater Film Society Inc., a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, screening top notch films, providing educational workshops, parties and events in St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Tampa, Florida. Sunscreen Film Festival is unique from other film festivals in that guests are asked to participate in educational programming as part of their attendance at the festival.
