Queens Theatre is launching its Winter/Spring 2017 Season with a diverse array of presentations, including the acclaimed Dance Company Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers and a new Queens Theatre production of the American classic, The Miracle Worker.

"There is a lot of variety to the programming this spring. We can promise exciting and memorable performances by really passionate and talented artists and companies" said Executive Director Taryn Sacramone.

The Theatre Series will resume in March with a Neil Simon hit play, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, presented by Walnut Street Theatre, one of the most respected theatre companies in the United States. Following the success of its own production of To Kill a Mockingbird last season, Queens Theatre will present a new production of the American classic, The Miracle Worker, adapted for the stage by William Gibson and directed by Brant Russell in May.

In the Dance Series, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, one of the nation's leading Flamenco Company, will be back at Queens Theatre on February 11 for three performances. It will be the company's only engagement in New York City this season. In April, RENNIE HARRIS PUREMOVEMENT, the first hip-hop dance touring company ever created, will make its anticipated Queens Theatre debut.

The two companies in residence at Queens Theatre will also present their Spring shows. CALPULLI MEXICAN Dance Company will introduce Boda Mexicana (Mexican Wedding), a traditional dance and musical performance. TITAN THEATRE COMPANY will present a production of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night in QueensTheatre's intimate Studio Theatre.

The Family Series will feature two shows. The Beauty of Ballet, presented by THE SCHOOL OF AMERICAN BALLET, which will introduce families to the form with excerpts from audience favorites such as The Sleeping Beauty, George Balanchine's The Nutcracker™, and Swan Lake. This will be a free event. In Seussical, an hour-long show for kids 4 to 10, Dr. Seuss' best-loved stories will collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper.

Two special events will complete the series of performances. Spirits of Another Sort is a Workshop Production of A Midsummer Night's Dream conceived by THE APOTHETAE, in collaboration with PERFORMANCE LAB 115, and directed by Alice Reagan. THE APOTHETAE is a company dedicated to the production of plays that explore and illuminate the "Disabled Experience." Spirits of Another Sort will feature an integrated cast of able-bodied, physically disabled and developmentally disabled actors.

Finally, Queens Theatre's Latin Dance Fiesta, a show featuring four different dance companies from four different Latin-American countries, will be back in April by popular demand.

Queens Theatre is located at 14 United Nations Avenue South in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, directly under the iconic towers of the New York State Pavilion, and is easily accessible by car (Queens Theatre offers free parking), bus and subway. Tickets for Queens Theatre's Dance and Theatre Series start at just $25 for rear-seating, regular seating is $42. Family Series tickets are $12.

He realizes that one day each week, his mother's apartment will be empty all afternoon. In this delightful comedy, Barney makes several attempts at seduction, all of which fail hilariously. Last of the Red Hot Lovers examines an endearing character's mid-life crisis with wisdom, charm and "the Simon touch." Presented by Walnut Street Theatre.

Rennie Harris Puremovement is the first and longest running hip-hop dance touring company. Their work is dedicated to preserving and spreading hip-hop culture, breaking stereotypes and expectations of hip-hop dance. Rennie Harris's work encompasses the rich, diverse African-American traditions of the past, while simultaneously honoring the voice of a new generation.

The Apothetae is a company dedicated to the production of plays that explore and illuminate the "Disabled Experience." Shakespeare's timeless comedy contains three worlds - the Athenians, the Fairies, and the Rude Mechanicals. Spirits Of Another Sortis a one-hour adaptation of the play which examines the themes of War, Chaos and Otherness and features an integrated cast of able-bodied, physically disabled and intellectually disabled actors to represent these distinct worlds.

Boda Mexicana is a story told through dance and music about the union of two people as expressed by different ethnic groups, eras, and traditions throughout Mexico's rich cultural history. From the two souls falling in love, their courtship, to the in-laws meeting for the first time, audiences will partake in a universal love story with a unique Mexican touch.
