Dance on Camera Festival, co-presented by The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Dance Films Association, features a program dedicated to the modern dance legacy of choreographers Jose Limon and Anna Sokolow.

The program will include video excerpts as well as interviews and panel discussion with Carla Maxwell, Jim May and Deborah Zall, moderated by Joan Finkelstein, Director of Dance for the New York City Department of Education.

As modern dance masters Jose Limon and Anna Sokolow become historical figures, how do their choreographic visions continue to survive and thrive? Following the clip portion of the show, this topic will be addressed by three dedicated professionals who continue to pursue the visions of their former mentors.

Carla Maxwell, a Limon dancer, choreographer and Artistic Director of the Limon Dance Company since 1978; Jim May, Artistic Director of the Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble and a Sokolow disciple for over 35 years; Deborah Zall, dance soloist and teacher who has had the distinction of performing works by both Anna Sokolow and Martha Graham.

Dance on Camera Festival is curated by Liz Wolff. Joanna Ney is co-curator and consultant.
