Dance/theater company anna&meredith presents GORMANZEE & Other Stories, an evening of dance, theater, and puppetry with live music. The evening features BILL IT, a kinetic portrait of the restaurant industry, POPULATION: 2, the story of the two remaining residents of a Midwestern ghost town, and GORMANZEE, a macabre puppet comedy exploring ritualistic primate slaughter, premiering at Spoke the Hub, 295 Douglass St., Gowanus, Brooklyn. Performances are November 20, 21, and 22 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15/$12 students, available at spokethehub.org
 
These three one-acts showcase anna&meredith's wide stylistic range, from fast-paced comedy and tight choreography, to stark dramatic conflict, to eerie and inventive puppetry. anna&meredith's past work includes BRAINS, First Place Winner of Spoke the Hub's 2009 Winter Follies and recipient of The Looking Glass Theatre Space Grant, and The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner, Time Out NY Critics' Pick at FringeNYC 2008.
 
GORMANZEE & Other Stories was written by Anna Moench, staged by Meredith Steinberg, and produced by Carolyn Sesbeau. Performers are Edward Bauer, Jean Ann Douglass, Dave Edson, Sarah Elmaleh, Molly Gaebe, Claire Gresham, Jo Oh, Andy Schneeflock, Claire Siebers, and Nathan Wagner. Costumes were designed by Evan Prizant, music by David Moench, and puppets by Erin Smith.
 
anna&meredith is a cross-disciplinary performance company formed by playwright Anna Moench and choreographer Meredith Steinberg. anna&meredith is committed to creating original work that unites the most compelling elements of dance, theater, and devised performance. Their work bursts with theatricality, energy, and the unexpected, asking relevant questions while infusing the stage with playful exuberance.
 
Anna Moench’s plays include THE PILLOW BOOK, GREAT EASTERN, BRAINS, and THE DEATH OF THE BALL TURRET GUNNER. These and others have been produced at Ensemble Studio Theatre, Dixon Place, The Looking Glass Theatre, FringeNYC, and The Space, and developed at the Last Frontier Theatre Conference, the Sewanee Writers' Conference, New Dramatists, The Inkwell, Oracle Theatre, and the Fieldwork Artist Residency. Awards include the Jerome Foundation's 2009 Travel Grant, the Tennessee Williams Scholarship (SWC), and an E.S.T./Sloan commission. Anna is a member playwright of Youngblood at Ensemble Studio Theatre.

Meredith Steinberg has shown her choreography at Dixon Place, Fringe NYC, Under St. Mark's (The Management), Spoke the Hub, The Looking Glass Theatre, Oracle Theatre, the Event Center (AUNTS Dance), and The Space.  Meredith has performed at BAX, the Brick Theater, and Triskelion Arts, and she has worked with Symphony Space, the Youth Counseling League and Kids Creative. Meredith is the Education Assistant at The Joyce Theater. B.A. Wesleyan University, Honors in Dance.
