'Dance from the Extraordinary Everyday' Workshop Series with Peter DiMuro to Run 5/22-6/14; Performances Set for 6/20-21

Announcing the "Dance from the Extraordinary Everyday" workshop series with Peter DiMuro.

Explore ideas of putting things together, taking them apart, and other aspects of creativity in thought and action through this series of practical workshop/worktime experiences. Participants will be submerged in a way of talking, doing and moving that is built in collaborative arts practices, and much informed by DiMuro's years with pioneering Liz Lerman Dance Exchange. Colleagues within the dance and arts world will be in dialogue with those not necessarily associated with the arts.

Requirements for participation are an open mind, an awareness of moving safely but with creative abandon, a purpose without an agenda. Participants will work along side artistic collaborators of Peter DiMuro/Public Displays of Motion. A final open rehearsal in each workshop will be open to the public.

Workshop #3: Movers and the Velocity of Metaphors | June 11-14

The workshop's "Public Displays of Motion?" performances are set for Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21 at 8:00pm at Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. Peter DiMuro is a dancer, choreographer and bridge-builder and was vital member of the Boston arts scene in the 80's and 90's. After 20 years touring the world creating dances with professionals and community members, DiMuro returns to Boston with a burning question: How is it that I can best make dance now? Informed by years of work with multiple dance genres and as a leader in community engaging arts practices, DiMuro will explore this question for himself and also for the field of dance in Boston and beyond through dialogue, workshops, open showings, and intensive rehearsals. Performances will showcase the results of DiMuro's search.
