Dance Currents to Bring NEXT STEPS to Green Street Studios, 1/26

Dance Currents, Inc. is presenting "Next Steps" at Green Street Studios Sunday January 26 at 3 pm. The choreographers presenting pieces are: Audra Carabetta, Lorraine Chapman, Jennifer Cote', Kathy Hassinger, Kendra Heithoff Henseler, Anna Meyers, Margot Parsons, Nicole Pierce and Ali Smith. Premieres as well as time-honored dances will be shown.

The money raised by the "Next Steps" concert will be funding the now renamed Green Works (formerly the Emerging Artist Program and New Works). According to Annie Kloppenberg, a Green Street Studios board member, " We are continuing to develop the program, shifting its model. For more than 10 years, this program, in its various iterations, has helped nurture local artists and supported the development of new works. This spring's Green Works will give choreographers both facilitated workshop time coupled with formal feedback of work." Green Street Studios is the home for a large number of dance groups, a presenter of important local and out of town dance companies, and a major teaching location for excellent teachers in a variety of dance techniques. The fact that they are moving is a major change in the ecology of dance in the Boston area.
