People.com has confirmed that Dancing With the Stars pro Mark Ballas took a serious fall while rehearsing his upcoming freestyle routine, to be performed during tonight's season finale with his celebrity partner, 'Full House' star Candace Cameron Bure.

"Mark was seriously injured during camera blocking," a spokesperson told People. "His shoulder popped out during a lift and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated and released. It's unclear whether or not he'll be able to perform on Monday's show."

According to the report, the injury occurred as the couple was practicing a "complex maneuver that involved Ballas lifting the bure onto his shoulders." The freestyle is notoriously known for couples pushing the limits of their dance skills in order to impress the judges.

DWTS pros Cheryl Burke and Derek Hough were present at the rehearsal studio at the time of the injury and quickly rushed in to aid their fellow dance pro. While Ballas is being urged to sit out tonight's finale, as of now he is insisting that the show must go on. As a back up, another dance pro has learned the freestyle routine so that he may step in if need be.

The four remaining couples will compete in tonight's Season 18 two-night finale on ABC; with the final performance show airing tonight, Monday at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesday's live two-hour results show following a one-hour recap special "The Road to the Finals" at 9 p.m. ET.
