Ballet Academy East to Present 2014 Spring Performance, 5/16-18

Ballet Academy East presents the 2014 Spring Performance from May 16-18, 2014 at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater, 524 West 59th Street, NYC. Performances: Friday, May 16 at 7pm; Saturday, May 17 at 2pm and 7pm; and Sunday, May 18 at 2pm. The Saturday matinee will include crafts and photo opportunities with the dancers at intermission. Tickets are $60 for Center Orchestra and $40 for Side Orchestra and Balcony. Tickets will go on sale on April 1, 2014. The program will include La Source, choreographed by George Balanchine and staged by Darla Hoover; new ballets by former New York City Ballet principal dancer Charles Askegard, acclaimed young choreographer Emery LeCrone, and celebrated BAE faculty member Jenna Lavin; the return of A Simple Assortment, choreographed by New York City Ballet principal dancer, Jonathan Stafford; and, as is done every year, the youngest dancers will perform Un Petit Menuet, choreographer by Marcia Dale Weary and Une Peitite Introduction, choreographed by Darla Hoover.

The BAE Student Company was formed in 2003 to provide performing opportunities to the aspiring dancers of BAE's Pre-Professional Ballet Division. The Company performs twice annually, in February and May.

The BAE Student Company is able to accept tax-deductible donations through Unique Projects, Inc., a subsidiary of Pentacle/DanceWorks. All proceeds raised go towards supporting the BAE Student Company performances.

Ballet Academy East trains dancers for professional careers in ballet. The faculty is led by artistic director Darla Hoover and includes Maxim Beloserkovsky, Cynthia Birdwell, Olga Dvorovenko, Peter Frame, Jenna Lavin, Joseph Malbrough, Tara Mora, Francis Patrelle, Elizabeth Walker and Cheryl Yeager. The comprehensive syllabus was created by Darla Hoover and is designed to develop technically strong, expressive ballet dancers, who ultimately can adapt to any style. The curriculum includes technique classes, pointe, partnering, variations, stretch, men's weight training, modern and character. Performing opportunities include two annual productions: the Studio Showing in February and the Spring Performance in May. The director and founder of Ballet Academy East is Julia Dubno.
