Andrea Miller's FOLD HERE to Premiere at Alexander Kasser Theater, 9/26-29
One of the most sought after young choreographers working today, Andrea Miller will present the world premiere of her most ambitious dance to date, "Fold Here," commissioned by Peak Performances where it debuts September 26-29 at the Alexander Kasser Theater.
A kinetic response to Raymond Carver's multi-layered short story Cathedral, "Fold Here" explores the spiritual and emotional dimensions which Carver charts through the unexpected relationship between a blind man and a sighted man. Employing movement crafted from the raw energy of human emotion, generosity, and compassion, "Fold Here" illuminates the transformative effects borne through the collision of the two mens' worlds.
Miller's collaborators for "Fold Here" include lighting designer Robert Wierzel, composer and sound designer Andrzej Przybytkowski, projection and video designer Tal Rosner and, dramaturg Alejandro Rodriguez, and costume designer Jenny Lai.
On Sunday, September 22 and Monday, September 23, Miller's work will be the subject of "Works & Process", a performance and discussion at the Solomon H. Guggenheim Museum. Beginning at 7:30pm, each evening will be moderated by Peak Performances Artistic Director Jedediah Wheeler.
