Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in Sunday, September 29th Episode of AMC's Low Winter Sun, after the Breaking Bad Series Finale.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater members will be seen on AMC's new series Low Winter Sun, a contemporary police story set in Detroit and based on the award-winning British two-part miniseries. The episode entitled "Revelations" will air on Sunday, September 29th at 11:15PM (after the Breaking Bad series finale and its live after show) and repeat on Sunday, October 6th before the two hour season finale. The episode features one of the lead detectives Joe Geddes (portrayed by actor Lennie James) traveling to Chicago to treat his family to an Ailey performance. Students From The Ailey School Appear in "Let's Move" Fitness Video With New York Knick Iman Shumpert and Perform Alongside Doug E. Fresh on September 30th Songs For A Healthier America Album Release Event

A special, star-studded live event at Symphony Space on September 30th at 6pm will celebrate the release of Songs For A Healthier America, a boisterous new album aimed at amplifying the benefits of healthier child nutritional and exercise choices by setting inventive wordcraft to music. The project is produced by Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), an organization that works with the private sector and its honorary chair First Lady Michelle Obama to help end the childhood obesity epidemic, and Hip Hop Public Health.

In addition to ten students from The Ailey School performing alongside Doug E Fresh, Artie Green and Chauncey Hawkins, the stellar lineup includes Ryan Beatty, Ashanti, Matisyahu, Monifah and J Rome, Brady Rymer, Ashton Jones, Our Time, Nils Lofgren and Dr. Oz. Sam Kass, Executive Director of Let's Move! and White House Executive Chef, and District 9 New York Council Member Inez Dickens are among the special dignitaries slated to speak to the audience of 600 New York City school students.

A video from the album's second single "Let's Move," featuring 10 talented young dancers from The Ailey School (the official school of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater), along with Iman Shumpert from the NY Knicks will also premiere at the event . The "Instant Recess" style video will be distributed in October for use as a dance exercise break, engaging young people in a fun physical activity. The 19 song compilation will be offered to children across the U.S. at http://songsforahealthieramerica.org and at iTunes for free - the first time a complete album will be offered at no cost on iTunes.

Ailey Artistic Director Robert Battle to Participate in WQXR Panel On NEA Public Survey on Public Participation in the Arts - October 3rd at 12:00pm

On Thursday October 3rd at noon, WQXR's Conducting Business brings a group of prominent arts leaders, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Artistic Director Robert Battle, to The Greene Space to explore recent findings of The National Endowment for the Arts' latest Survey of Public Participation in the Arts, a crucial five-year study of audience trends in theaters, concert halls and museums across the United States. Hosted by Operavore's Naomi Lewin, other panelists will include NEA research director Sunil Iyengar; Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of New York's Public Theater; Jesse Rosen, president and CEO of the League of American Orchestras; Anne Midgette, classical music critic of The Washington Post, andGraham Parker, Vice President of WQXR. New York City Center is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Fall for Dance Festival with a very special season featuring performances by 20 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world. On October 4th and 5th at 8pm, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will perform Rennie Harris' Home. Home, set to a soul?lifting score of gospel house music by Dennis Ferrer and Raphael Xavier, is inspired by stories submitted to the "Fight HIV Your Way" contest of people living with or affected by HIV, an initiative of Bristol?Myers Squibb. On Friday October 4th at 6:30pm,Fall for Dance's annual DanceTalk series offers a pre-performance conversation with Matthew Rushing and Linda Celeste Sims moderated by Marina Harss at New York City Center (Grand Tier lobby). The discussion is free and open to the public.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's annual holiday season at New York City Center is scheduled from December 4, 2013 - January 5, 2014. The season features premieres and new productions, along with a variety of repertory favorites and special programs.
