Among our country's foremost humorists and one of Comedy Central's "100 greatest stand-ups of all time," Paula Poundstone performs at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Sunday, April 17th at 7:00pm. Twenty Five years ago, Paula jumped on a Greyhound bus, stopping at open mic nights in comedy clubs as she made her way across America. Fast-forward to 2016 and Poundstone is touring regularly, performing stand-up comedy across the country and even making time to voice a character in the critically-acclaimed movie Inside Out.

While there is no doubt that Paula Poundstone is funny, the thing that probably separates her from the mass of comedians working today is her ability to be quick and spontaneous with a crowd, handling political topics with ease and avoiding the pall of disapproval that often accompanies such situations. Paula's crafty humor has earned her a long list of accolades, including the first woman to win the cable ACE Award for Best Standup Comedy Special (1992,) the first woman to perform standup at the White House Correspondents dinner (1993) and a spot in the Comedy Hall of Fame (2010.) If you're looking for thought-provoking wit that's sharp but never mean, don't miss Paula Poundstone at the Van Wezel!

Tickets are $17-$45 and are available at VanWezel.org, the Box Office, or by calling 941-953-3368.
