Vagabond Players Hosts Baltimore Playwrights Festival; Announces Auditions

The warning sirens have sounded, but can Anna and David survive the fallout?

Two damaged strangers take shelter from an unknown menace in a relic from the Cold War. In the claustrophobic confines of a family bomb shelter, Anna and David will have to decide if what is outside is more terrifying than what they are hiding inside themselves.

2017-18 Season Brochure, Subscriptions

You should have received your 2017-18 Vagabond Players 102nd Season brochure in the mail by now. If you didn't get one, we may not have your correct address, or you may have not given us permission to send postal mail to you. Use the link at the bottom of this e-mail to update your Patron record in our database to make sure you get one next year. Meanwhile, you can pick up the current brochure when you see Fallout.

Mail orders for 2017-18 Season subscriptions are now being accepted. On-line sales begin around August 1.

Further Auditions: Little Shop of Horrors

The Vagabond Players are looking to cast the following roles in Little Shop of Horrors:

SEYMOUR (Late 20s-early 30s) Our insecure, naïve, put-upon, florists' clerk hero. Above all, he's a sweet and well-meaning little man. He is not a silly nerd, and therefore, should not be played as the hero of a Jerry Lewis film. Strong acting and singing required.

ORIN (Late 20s-early 30s) A tall, dark, handsome dentist with a black leather jacket and cruel tendencies. He is not, however, a left over from the movie version of Grease. Think instead of an egotistical pretty-boy--all got up like a greaser but thinking like an insurance salesman and talking like a radio announcer. Makes a couple of brief, but high-impact, appearances. Strong character acting and singing required.

Auditions will be held BY APPOINTMENT ONLY on Sunday, July 23, starting at 6 pm. Please email Director, Eric Stein at theatrestein@gmail.com to set up an appointment.

REHEARSALS will begin at the end of August and will be held four to five times a week in some combination of Sunday through Thursday.

PERFORMANCES will be from October 27-November 16, 2017. Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm, and Thursdays (November 9th and 16th) at 8pm.

All roles are non-equity and non-paid.

Headshots and resumes are not required, but are gladly accepted. Auditioners are asked to prepare the following:

Two selections of 16-32 bars of music, one for your audition piece and one for a back-up in case more is needed. An accompanist will be available, as will a CD Player with an auxiliary (headphone cable) plug-in if you choose to bring a backing track. Please bring vocal selections that showcase your range and personality, but most of all your personality. You may be asked to sing a piece from the show, so please familiarize yourself with the music. No monologues are necessary. Readings will be done from the script. Please come prepared to move.
