The Gallery Players Presents Clark Gesner's YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN

Gallery Players announces its "family-friendly" production of Clark Gesner's, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Based on the characters created by Charles M. Schulz, with additional dialogue by Michael Mayer and added music & lyrics by Andrew Lippa, this revised version of the 1967 classic musical brings Gallery's 50th Anniversary Season into the new year.
The Peanuts Gang we all know and love: Charlie Brown, Sally, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder, Snoopy, Pig Pen, Violet and Frieda, make their way to Park Slope to entertain kids young and old. On an average day in the life of Charlie Brown, from Valentine's Day to Baseball Season, from wild optimism to utter despair, the Peanuts Gang battle with kites, school, baseball and misunderstandings before finally coming to realize what makes them truly happy.
A long time Brooklyn resident, Clark Gesner was also a theater reviewer covering many Gallery Productions until he passed away in 2002. Another of his musicals, Animal Fair, was given its New York premiere by Gallery in 2001. The original 1967 production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Production, and the revised version earned Gesner and Lippa a Grammy Award nomination for Best Musical Show Album.
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown opens Saturday, January 28 and plays matinees only through February 19. Performances will be held Saturdays at2:00pm and Sundays at 12:00 and 3:00pm.

ABOUT THE GALLERY PLAYERS
A New York institution since 1967, this is Gallery's 50th Anniversary Season, which is typically comprised of three plays and three musicals from both the classic and contemporary repertoire. The season finale is the annual Black Box New Play Festival, which workshops and presents world premier productions of works by emerging playwrights. Gallery has received the Off-Off Broadway Review's 2000 Award for Lifetime Achievement, as well as Innovative Theater (IT) awards for outstanding musical for Urinetown, Yank, and Like You Like It, and has earned the reputation of "New York's Best Kept Secret."
