Broadway's WAITRESS began performances on Friday, March 25 with a bang, setting a house record for a single performance the Brooks Atkinson Theatre with a gross of $145,532.00 and announcing a new block of tickets on sale through January 1, 2017. WAITRESS opens Sunday, April 24, 2016. BroadwayWorld brings you a first look at the cast in action here!

THE FATHER, a new play by Molière Award winner Florian Zeller, in a translation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, God of Carnage), opened just last night, April 14, 2016 on Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Roundabout Theatre Company, in association with Ryan Murphy, presents Eugene O'Neill's LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, starring Academy and Emmy Award winner Jessica Lange as "Mary Tyrone," Golden Globe winner and Tony Award nominee Gabriel Byrneas "James Tyrone," Academy Award nomineeMichael Shannon as "James Tyrone, Jr.," Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr. as "Edmund Tyrone," and Colby Minifie as "Cathleen." On Saturday 9 April 2016, after 4,600 performances and prior to the theatre's previously announced refurbishment programme, the final Victoria Palace Theatre performance of Billy Elliot The Musical took place in front of a packed house with guests including past and presentBilly Elliots, original cast members and members of the show's creative team. The over 1530 strong audience rose to their feet for the curtain call to join the Company in celebrating a very special evening and a phenomenal eleven year run in the West End. Director Stephen Daldry, writer Lee Hall and composer Elton John joined the company on stage accompanied by 32 past and present Billy Elliots (the most Billy Elliots to ever appear on stage together), 24 past Michaels and 18 past Debbies as well as several adult members of the original Company. Tony Award-winner Alfie Boe, the British tenor acclaimed for his role as 'Jean Valjean' in the widely watched 2010 25th anniversary special televised concert at London's O2 arena of LES MISERABLES, again in the West End's 2011 production, and in Broadway's current revival, recently took over the role of 'J.M. Barrie' in Broadway's FINDING NEVERLAND. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you a first look at Boe in action here!

Fresh from her critically acclaimed performance in Allegiance on Broadway, Lea Salonga took the stage at Feinstein's/54 Below (April 12-17) for a highly anticipated NYC cabaret return. Called "golden-voiced" by Variety, Salonga smartly weaves together a set list of her favorite standards, go-to pop tunes, and Broadway ballads. This trio of piano, (Larry Yurman) guitar, (Jack Cavari) and voice ensures an intimate experience with a true Broadway icon. Check out more photos from the event here! THEATRE FORWARD and Chairman JAMES S. TURLEY just led a celebration to support American theatre at the annual Chairman's Awards Gala last night, April 11th at The Pierre New York (2 East 61st Street at Fifth Avenue). The Chairman's Awards Gala supports the creation of theatrical works and arts education at the country's leading nonprofit theatres. The Tony Award winning hit musical An American in Paris just celebrated its first year on Broadway last night, April 12. Since it opened on April 12, 2015 at the Palace Theatre, An American in Paris has played 416 regular performances and 29 previews and has been seen by over 650,000 people. The company celebrated the milestone with a special cake from Carlo's Bakery of the "Cake Boss." Check out photos here!

The Old Globe presents Nick Payne's Broadway hit play CONSTELLATIONS, arriving April 9, directed by the Globe's own Richard Seer. Christian Coulson and Victoria Frings will star in the two-person play. CONSTELLATIONS will run April 9 through May 8, 2016, in the Sheryl andHarvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Opening night was last night, April 14 at 8:00 p.m. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast here!
