Sheldon Harnick and More Set for 'Dramalogue Talking Theatre' Series at Palm Beach Dramaworks

Palm Beach Dramaworks has announced that multi Tony Award-winners Tony Walton, Fran Weissler, and Sheldon Harnick will appear live, onstage as part of its popular series, Dramalogue - Talking Theatre! This series of six programs, which explores all aspects of theatre in conversations with or about the industry's top professionals and master artists, will also feature presentations on Truman Capote and Tom Stoppard, and a roundtable discussion with three theatre critics.

The fourth season of Dramalogue kicks off on December 6 with a presentation by Mark Perlberg on the life and times of Truman Capote. PBD's production of Jay Presson Allen's Tru opens on December 2, and Perlberg's program will provide further insight into the author and his work.

Up next, on January 3, is a conversation with designer and director Tony Walton, who is especially celebrated for his inspired scenic design, both onstage and in film. His most memorable stage work includes the sets for the original production of Pippin, The House of Blue Leaves, and the 1992 revival of Guys and Dolls (Tony Awards for all). His movies include Mary Poppins (costumes and design consultant), Murder on the Orient Express(production and costume design), and All That Jazz(Academy Award for Production Design). Walton will discuss his career with J. Barry Lewis.

What, exactly, does a Broadway producer do? On February 7, the indomitable Fran Weissler will explain it all, and talk about some of the memorable plays and musicals she's co-produced with her husband, Barry Weissler. Winner of seven Tony Awards, Weissler is currently represented on Broadway by Chicago - the second-longest running Broadway show of all time and winner of the 1997 Tony for Best Revival of a Musical - and Waitress. Other notable productions include The Scottsboro Boys, the 2010 revival of La Cage aux Folles, Falsettos, and a 1982 production of Othello with Christopher Plummer and James Earl Jones.

The series continues on March 7 with beloved lyricist Sheldon Harnick discussing his illustrious 64-year career, which took off when he teamed with composer Jerry Bock. Their collaboration includes Fiorello!, which earned them the 1960 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 1960 Tony Award for Best Musical; She Loves Me, often referred to as the perfect musical; and the world-wide phenomenon known as Fiddler on the Roof (Tony Award). The recipient of a special 2016 Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement, Harnick will discuss his career with Sheryl Flatow.

Go inside the mind of Tom Stoppard on April 4, when J. Barry Lewis offers a presentation on the brilliant playwright. Lewis is directing Stoppard's masterpiece, Arcadia, which opens on March 31.

The series concludes on April 18, when three noted theatre critics join Flatow in a roundtable discussion about their work. Participants are Christine Dolan (former theatre critic of the Miami Herald), Hap Erstein (The Palm Beach Post, Palm Beach ArtsPaper), and Bill Hirschman (Florida Theater On Stage).

Mark Perlberg is the executive producer of Dramalogue, which is sponsored by Nancy and Jay Parker. Presentations may include videos clips and/or scene readings. Audiences are invited to participate in a Q&A at the conclusion of each event.

All programs are at 2pm and 7pm on Tuesdays. A subscription to the entire series is $108. Individual tickets are $25.
