The touching story of an NBA star and the bond he developed with a dying child will open the new season of SC Featured, ESPN SportsCenter's award-winning storytelling brand, today, Feb. 14.

The first SC Featured of the 2016 season is "The Meaning of Miyah," a story of the friendship between 6 year-old Miyah, who lost her battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and Washington Wizards star John Wall.

Premiering in 2013, the SC Featured brand brings unique and compelling feature stories to viewers of Sunday editions of ESPN's flagship news and information program. SC Featured stories air on SPORTSCENTER during the months of the NFL offseason, debuting in the 10 a.m. ET edition with a re-air in the 11 p.m. program and at other times throughout the day.

"Our goal every week with SC Featured is to surprise and entertain the viewer," said Victor Vitarelli, senior coordinating producer, ESPN Features Unit, which produces SC Featured. "We look forward to bringing more of the sports world's most interesting stories to SPORTSCENTER and we're confident fans are going to be excited about the features that we have planned."

As part of ESPN's Black History Month observance, the Sunday, Feb. 21, SC Featured will tell the story of Chubbtown, Ga., the home of University of Georgia running back Nick Chubb. The historic town was formed by his ancestors, free black families who settled in the area during the Civil War. The feature is reported by Byron Pitts of ABC News.
