Emmy Award-winning actor/writer/comedian Wanda Sykes has been called "one of the funniest stand-up comics" by her peers and ranks among Entertainment Weekly's 25 Funniest People in America. She works regularly with the likes of Larry David, Chris Rock and Gary Trudeau on such shows and films as Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Chris Rock Show, Pootie Tang, and the Amazon Prime series Alpha House. Her HBO stand up special I'ma Be Me was nominated for two Primetime Emmy awards. This amazingly funny lady will headline at The Ridgefield Playhouse tonight, May 1, at 8 p.m. This show is for mature audiences only. Special guest is stand-up comedian and comic actor Keith Robinson. This event is part of the Clark Construction Comedy Series.

In her I'ma Be Me HBO special, Wanda tackled topics such as the first black president, gay cruises, being a new mom and aging. The special was nominated for two 2010 Primetime Emmy awards. Her first special

Wanda Sykes: Tongue Untied premiered on Comedy Central in 2003. She can be heard in many animated feature films including Ice Age: Continental Drift as Granny; in FOX's Rio as The Goose; in DreamWorks' Over the Hedge and Paramount's The Barnyard. Sykes was also seen in the feature films Evan Almighty,

Monster-In-Law starring opposite Jane Fonda, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, and many more. Her first book titled Yeah, I Said It (Simon and Schuster) is a collection of hilarious essays that touch on life, family and current events.

As a performer and writer on HBO's critically acclaimed Chris Rock Show, Wanda was nominated for three Primetime Emmy's and, in 1999, won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special. In 2001, she won the American Comedy Award for Outstanding Female Stand Up Comic. Her list of awards goes on and on.

Wanda Sykes graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampton University, and she has been honored with a GLAAD award for promoting a good image of equal rights for gays and lesbians (2010).
