Photo Flash: SCHOOL OF ROCK's Alex Brightman Mentors Broadway Artists Alliance Students

Tony Award Nominee and School of Rock's leading man, Alex Brightman, visited the students of Broadway Artists Alliance on Thursday, July 7th. Brightman spoke of how his career journey led to originating the role of Dewey Finn, which earned him a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. Scroll down for photos!

Brightman entertained and inspired the students during a lively Q&A, answering questions they had ranging from his dream roles, how to bounce back from on-stage mishaps, what a Broadway casting process for a show like School of Rock entails, and inspiring nuggets of career and life tips! His fun stories and generous advice made this visit a highlight of the BAA Junior summer intensive program.

Brightman made his Broadway debut as an understudy in Glory Days, which unfortunately closed after one performance. Other past Broadway credits include Boq in Wicked, Big Fish, and Michael Wormwood in Matilda. He can currently be seen in School of Rock as Dewey Finn at the Winter Garden Theatre.

Broadway Artists Alliance, founded with the goal of providing professional-level training to talented young artists, enlists the services of Broadway performers, Tony Award winners, and top industry professionals. Students enjoy a wide range of experiences in vocal training, scene study, and various types of dance among the many offerings. BAA offers four Summer Intensive Sessions and one Junior Session with ages ranging from 8 to 21. This July, BAA also debuted a new pre-professional training program, BAA Academy, which was a raving success.
