Viewers have the opportunity to own their very own piece of the iconic THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW when, beginning Thursday, May 5 at 3:00 p.m. ET, a select number of studio audience chairs will be available for auction with net proceeds going to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation. A commemorative plaque adorns the flooring of each of the 246 lots, largely single-seat, with several 2 and 3-seat configurations available as well. The official audience chairs from the award-winning talk show can be previewed online at oprah.screenbid.com. Bidding will begin to close on Thursday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. ET. The charity auction is open to international bidding.
The auction celebrates the 5th anniversary of the final telecast of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," which entertained, ENLIGHTENED and uplifted millions of viewers for 25 years as the highest-rated talk show in television history, reaching more than 40 million viewers a week in the United States and in 150 countries around the world. The show held its final episode on May 25, 2011 at Harpo Studios in Chicago in front of a live studio audience as Oprah Winfrey signed off from her talk show for the final time. To commemorate the occasion, Oprah.com and WhereAreTheyNow.buzz will celebrate the anniversary with programming online throughout May, including unforgettable show moments, follow-ups with your favorite guests and never-before-seen footage. Net proceeds from the charity auction will benefit the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation, which supports the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy For Girls in South AFRICA graduates as they continue their education. This October, the Academy will celebrate its sixth graduating class. Winfrey established the school in 2007 to provide education for academically gifted girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. Graduates of the school have continued on to higher education both in South AFRICA and at colleges and universities around the world.Videos
