North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival to Welcome Bruce Vilanch, 2/12

Legendary comedic writer Bruce Vilanch is a last minute addition to this year's North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. He is set to share 60 minutes of comedic stories on the Arts Center Mainstage at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12. Tickets cost $16 in advance and $20 at the door. Vilanch is an American comedy writer, songwriter and actor. He is a six-time Emmy Award-winner. And since 2000 has been the head writer for the Oscars. During the decade before he was the co-writer for the annual ceremony. He is also a featured writer for the TONY Awards, Grammy Awards, and Emmy Awards. Vilanch is best known to the public for his four-year stint on Hollywood Squares, as a celebrity participant and behind the scenes as the head writer for the show. In 2000, he performed off-Broadway in his self-penned one-man show, Bruce Vilanch: Almost Famous. He has written for "Donny and Marie" and "The Brady Bunch Hour" (both ABC) and provided material for Richard Pryor, Lily Tomlin and Joan Rivers. He has had a long-standing relationship with Bette Midler and has roasted celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor and President Bill Clinton.

"Each year, we set out to bring the best comedians and comedic minds to our festival and Bruce is quite a 'get.' This year, our audiences are in for a real treat as they get to experience his stories and his life in Hollywood up close and personal," said Zach Ward, Executive Producer.
