NBC Sports to Present 8 NHL Games This Week, Including Quadrupleheader on Sunday

NBC Sports presents eight NHL games this week, highlighted by a Hockey Day in America quadrupleheader this Sunday on NBC and NBCSN, and a clash between the St. Louis Blues and Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday Night Rivalry at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
NBC Sports celebrates Hockey Day in America with stories and features which explore hockey's impact and influence across the U.S. quadrupleheader Sunday, beginning with Capitals-Rangers at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBC, followed by Red Wings-Penguins at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC. HDIA shifts to NBCSN at 6 p.m. ET for Blackhawks-Sabres, and wraps up with Bruins-Sharks at 8:30 p.m. ET. Blues-Red Wings on Wednesday Night Rivalry will be followed by a Wednesday Nightcap at 10:30 p.m. ET between the Florida Panthers and San Jose Sharks, as well as a clash between the Colorado Avalanche and Buffalo Sabres on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Coverage begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when the Columbus Blue Jackets host the New York Rangers in a pivotal Metropolitan Division clash. In addition to this week's NHL coverage, NBCSN will present a pair of COLLEGE HOCKEY matchups between the No. 8 Providence Friars and No. 15 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday and Saturday.RANGERS-BLUE JACKETS - TONIGHT AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN New York (36-18-1, 73 pts) has won five consecutive games and is currently in fourth place in the highly-competitive Metropolitan Division, two points behind second-place Columbus (35-14-5, 75 pts). The Rangers are coming off a 4-2 win against Colorado on Saturday, as Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves to become the 12th goalie in NHL history to register 400 career victories. The Blue Jackets notched a 2-1 win against the Red Wings on Saturday at home, as Cam Atkinson scored his 27th goal of the year, which leads the club and ranks fourth in the NHL. Columbus has won two of three previous meetings with New York this season, including a 6-4 win in their most recent matchup on Jan. 31.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY - BLUES-RED WINGS - WEDNESDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN St. Louis (29-22-5, 63 pts) has won four consecutive games, including a 4-2 win over Montreal on Saturday, led by Patrik Berglund's first NHL hat trick. The Blues are 5-1-0 since Mike Yeo was named head coach on Feb. 1. Detroit (22-24-10, 54 pts) aims to bounce back from a 6-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild on the NHL Game of the Week on NBC on Sunday. The Red Wings beat the Blues 2-1 in a shootout in their only previous meeting of the season on Oct. 27, as Henrik Zetterberg netted the decisive goal in the shootout. Kenny Albert (play-by-play) and McGuire will call this week's Blues-Red Wings Wednesday Night Rivalry game from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.
WEDNESDAY NIGHTCAP - PANTHERS-SHARKS - WEDNESDAY AT 10:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN Florida (24-20-10, 58 pts) sits three points behind Toronto (61 pts) for the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Panthers are coming off a 7-4 win against the Predators in NASHVILLE on Saturday, as Jaromir Jagr scored to move within one point of 1,900 points in his NHL career. San Jose (38-14-5, 73 pts) holds a five-point lead over Anaheim (68 pts) in the Pacific Division. The Sharks defeated the Devils 4-1 in New Jersey on Sunday, as defenseman Brent Burns registered 11 shots on goal and scored twice in the win. Burns is fourth in the NHL in points (59), and leads all defensemen in goals (24) and points. Randy Hahn (play-by-play) and Bret Hedican ('Inside-the-Glass') will call Panthers-Sharks from SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.
AVALANCHE-SABRES - THURSDAY AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN Colorado (15-36-2, 32 pts) enters the week following a 5-1 loss to the Islanders in Brooklyn on Sunday. Last Tuesday, rookie Mikko Rantanen recorded his first career hat trick in a 4-0 win against Montreal. Buffalo (23-23-10, 56 pts) fell 4-2 to Vancouver on Sunday night, despite Kyle Okposo's 18th goal of the season. Jack Eichel as has averaged nearly a point per game this season (29 pts in 36 games). John Forslund (play-by-play) and Brian Boucher ('Inside-the-Glass') will call the game from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y.
HOCKEY DAY IN AMERICA - CAPITALS-RANGERS - SUNDAY AT 12:30 P.M. ET ON NBC The Capitals (39-11-6) lead the NHL with 84 points, and have won six consecutive games. Washington defeated Anaheim 6-4 on Saturday, as six different skaters scored for the Caps, and goalie Braden Holtby won his 14th consecutive game, the second-longest streak for a goalie in NHL history. Washington has scored at least five goals in five of its last six games. The Rangers won the only previous meeting between the teams by a score of 4-2 on Oct. 22. Albert and Boucher will call Capitals-Rangers from Madison Square Garden in New York. The NHL on NBC studio team of Liam McHugh (host) and analysts Mike Milbury, Keith Jones, and Jeremy Roenick will provide analysis on-site from Pittsburgh, Pa., throughout the day. A release providing further details about NBC Sports' celebration of Hockey Day in America will be distributed later this week.
HOCKEY DAY IN AMERICA - RED WINGS-PENGUINS - SUNDAY AT 3:30 P.M. ET ON NBC The Penguins (34-13-7, 75 pts) are tied with Columbus for second place in the Metropolitan Division. Sidney Crosby continues to lead the NHL in goals (30), and is tied with Nicklas BACKSTROM for second in the league in points (60), one point behind Connor McDavid (61). Pittsburgh is the only team to boast two players (Crosby and Evgeni Malkin) in the Top 10 in points this season. The home team has won the both of the previous two meetings this season. Four-time Emmy Award-winner Mike 'Doc' Emrick (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and McGuire will have the call of Red Wings-Penguins from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.
HOCKEY DAY IN AMERICA - BLACKHAWKS-SABRES - SUNDAY AT 6 P.M. ET ON NBCSN Chicago (35-17-5, 75 pts) has won five consecutive games heading into this week, including a 5-1 win against Edmonton on Saturday. Richard Panik scored twice, and Patrick Kane recorded a goal and two of his team-leading 39 assists, which are third-most in the NHL. The Blackhawks beat the Sabres 4-3 in overtime in their only meeting this season on Jan. 5, as Kane netted the game-winner 56 seconds into overtime. Gord Miller (play-by-play) and Joe Micheletti ('Inside-the-Glass') will call the game from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y.
HOCKEY DAY IN AMERICA - BRUINS-SHARKS - SUNDAY AT 8:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN Boston (29-23-6, 58 pts) is in third place in the Atlantic Division and has won three consecutive games since Bruce Cassidy took over as head coach. The first of those games was a 6-3 victory against the Sharks, as David Pastrnak scored twice and Patrice Bergeron added a goal and three assists. Hahn (play-by-play), Andy Brickley (analyst), and Hedican ('Inside-the-Glass') will call Bruins-Sharks from SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.
COLLEGE HOCKEY - NO. 8 PROVIDENCE VS. NO. 15 NOTRE DAME - FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ON NBCSN NBCSN's COLLEGE HOCKEY coverage continues this Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET and Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN when Notre Dame hosts Providence in a two-game Hockey East clash. Notre Dame (17-9-4 overall, 10-5-3 Hockey East) has won three straight games, including a pair of matchups against Maine last weekend. Providence (18-8-4 overall, 10-6-2 Hockey East) is one of the hottest teams in college hockey, riding a nine-game winning streak, all in conference play. Steve Schlanger (play-by-play) and Anson Carter call Friday's matchup from Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Ind., while Nick Gismondi and Carter will call Saturday's game.
