City Winery Chicago, 1200 W. Randolph Street, announces Morgan James on her Reckless Abandon Tour, American soul singer FrEddie Jackson, City Winery favorite Marc Broussard, Poi Dog Pondering's return for their 5th annual end of year residency and more.

The following shows go on sale to the public on Thursday, November 3, at noon at citywinery.com/chicago.

Marc Broussard

Monday, December 19

$34/$38/$42/$46

In 2004, Marc Broussard released his major-label debut; he called it Carencro, after the Louisiana town where he was born and raised, and its thematic centerpiece was a hickory-smoked slab of Bayou soul called "Home." That album and the three that followed revealed Broussard as an old-school Southern soul singer blessed with a rarefied gift and innate stylistic and emotional authenticity. Those records also evidenced Broussard's maturation into a songwriter of uncommon eloquence, fashioning the indigenous idioms of his native region into compelling personal testimony. Now, over a decade after his critical breakthrough, Broussard has come full circle with his sixth studio album A Life Worth Living, a celebration of what home means to him, starting with his wife and kids, the street he's lived on his entire life, surrounded by loved ones, and all the minutiae of everyday life that he has come to treasure.

Poi Dog Pondering

Monday-Friday, December 26-30

$45/$50/$55/$65

Thirty years on, upwards of 15 band members deep and an ocean in-between, Poi Dog Pondering keeps thriving because their ethic has always been about following their musical heart. They have let every sound that excited them flow through their music and flood it with ever changing colors - rock, soul, orchestral, acoustic, electronic textures. Americana, rock band, disco and international - all threaded along the way with lyrics that embrace the beauty and pain that life can bring.

FrEddie Jackson

Friday, January 13

$55/$58/65/$68

To urban contemporary listeners, FrEddie Jackson was one of the biggest stars of the latter half of the '80s, dominating the R&B charts with hits such as "You Are My Lady," "He'll Never Love You (Like I Do)" and "Love Is Just a Touch Away." Jackson's forte was sophisticated, romantic soul ballads aimed at adult audiences, but he was also capable of tackling urban contemporary dance fare and even the occasional jazz tune. His career accumulated millions of diehard fans around the world, 11 #1 hits, 4 Grammy nominations, and he won an American Music Award. Today, Jackson continues to release albums with commercial success. His most recent single is "Love and Satisfaction"

Holly Bowling

Thursday, February 9

$12/$15 General Admission

Holly Bowling is a classically trained pianist who began playing at the age of five. There's one major distinction, however, that separates her from other similarly studied musicians and that is Bowling's devotion to the legendary rock band Phish. Having attended over 300 shows by the Burlington-based quartet, she became obsessed by their famous rendition of "Tweezer" from Lake Tahoe on July 31, 2013. It led Holly to transcribe this 37-minute improvisational masterpiece note-for-note and arrange it for solo piano. The process, both painstaking and fulfilling, inspired her to transform other Phish songs and well-known live jams into solo piano interpretations. Holly's breathtaking renditions of Phish classics like "It's Ice," "The Squirming Coil" and "Harry Hood" serve not only as a tribute to the modern-day kings of jam, but stand on their own as fully developed classical pieces. The past year has seen Holly expand her repertoire into the realm of the Grateful Dead, including an "Eyes of the World" based on the band's spectacular exploratory June 18, 1974 performance at Freedom Hall. Using classical piano technique to reinterpret these jam band luminaries, Holly's live performances infuse new with old, tradition with surreal, and creates a concert experience like nothing else in the music world.

Jeannie Tanner: My Words and Music Album Release Concert

Friday, February 27; 7:30 p.m.

$25/$30/$35/$40

Twelve of Chicago's finest vocalists gather for one night to debut a new album of original, distinctly American music written by singer-songwriter, composer and trumpeter, Jeannie Tanner. These talented vocalists recorded Tanner's songs for her new release, My Words and Music, Tanner's ninth album and first songbook collection. Never has this renowned group of artists been brought together for one concert: Alyssa Allgood, Rose Colella, Elaine Dame, Kimberly Gordon, Paul Marinaro, Tammy McCann, Jeff Meegan, Typhanie Monique, Andy Pratt, Abigail Riccards, Michele Thomas and Amy Yassinger. This performance will showcase Tanner's breadth and talent as a songwriter and musician. Tanner's mastery as a composer is said to lie in her ability to fuse the spontaneity of old school jazz with memorable lyrics and musical hooks that send audiences home humming her tunes.

Morgan James: Reckless Abandon Tour

Wednesday, April 19

$18/$20/$22/$25

New York-based soul singer, songwriter, and Broadway chanteuse Morgan James brings her powerhouse voice, theatrical swing, and a soulful poise to her full-length debut for Epic Records, Hunter. James assumed co-writing duties on eight of the collection's 11 tracks and even performed all her own background vocals and harmonies. Hunter reached Top 15 at Urban AC radio and #1 most added. She is proud to note that no vocal tuning of any kind has been used on any of her albums. In addition to Hunter, James has released a live tribute to Nina Simone, Morgan James Live, as well as an EP featuring some of her fans' favorite covers, YouTube Sessions. She can also be heard on countless theatre and concept soundtracks. Since Hunter's release, James' music videos have accumulated more than 45 million views (and climbing). With viral sensation Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, James toured the U.S., Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She is currently touring with her band while writing her next album.

City Winery also announces that Kenny White opens for Peter Wolf & the Midnight Travelers on Nov. 15 and Ivan Ellis opens for Ginuwine on Nov. 23.
