The success of last season's VOICES Concert has prompted a second musical event added to the season. SHOWTUNE: A TRIBUTE TO THE AMERICAN MUSICAL THEATER will be presented in June. Joining the staff of this electrifying event is MASON GRIFFIN.

Mason is a musical entrepreneur - with credits as an accompanist, coach, conductor, and music director. In New York City, his playing and teaching venues - past and present - include LaGuardia High School, Amas Musical Theatre, MTCA (Musical Theater College Auditions), The New York Film Academy, Applause NY, Broadway Classroom, Sing for Your Seniors, The United Nations International School, and subbing at Naked Boys Singing Off-Broadway. As music director, highlight shows include: RENT, Les Miserables, The Addams Family, Spelling Bee, A Funny Thing...Forum, Little Shop of Horrors, I Love a Piano, and Dreamgirls.

He frequently collaborates on new works as well as solo and group cabarets throughout NYC. He has worked with industry pros such as Taylor Negron, Steve Martin, Laura Osnes, and Santino Fontana. Mason has developed a show celebrating the life and work of Jerry Herman entitled No Blue Monday. Outside of the musical theater, Mason is a dedicatee and avid researcher of the music of John Cage.

A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mason is the annual guest music director and conductor of Louisiana State University's spring musical theater showcase, Singo de Mayo.

Mason joins founder, musician and Broadway professional Mary Elizabeth Micari and director/producer Jay Michaels. Tentatively scheduled for June, the concert will feature selections from Tony-winning shows going back to the award's inception in 1947. Company members will be joined by guest artists for an event sure to entertain aficionado and newcomer to the musical theater alike.

Genesis Repertory under Ms. Micari's direction, has presented the acclaimed Musical Master Class Concert for five years, rising from a church basement to showings at some of Manhattan's leading off and off-off Broadway houses. SHOWTUNE will become an annual event alongside the original VOICES. The M Center, Genesis' studio and arts training ground is also recognized for its award-winning PLAY-AND-SCREENWRITERS WORKSHOP as well as its burgeoning film and TV production unit.
