In his only New York performance this spring, the original audience killer, acerbic author and Law & Order: SVU star Richard Belzer will bring his brand of musical comedy and commentary to Stage 72 on Saturday, April 13 at 7pm with Richard Belzer's Rock & Roll & Comedy Extravaganza.

In the entertaining evening, Belzer parodies the greats, from a young and rambling Springsteen to an 86-year-old, nebbishy Bob Dylan and more, backed up by world-class rock & rollers, Thieves (musical director and keyboardist, Joe Delia). Opening for "Detective Munch" are the Los Angeles via Bakersfield twangers, Speedbuggy, descendents of the Southern California country tradition originated by Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.

"The Belz" is at fighting weight with the upcoming release of his sixth book, HIT LIST, which, he is proud to proclaim, will be found in the history section of all bookstores next month.

Richard Belzer is in his fourteenth season as the acerbic Detective John Munch on NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," after first portraying Munch on NBC's critically acclaimed drama series "Homicide: Life on the Street" for seven years. The veteran standup comic, actor and author was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Due to his "uncontrollable wit," Belzer was thrown out of every school he ever attended. Prior to his career in showbiz, Belzer worked as a teacher, census-taker, jewelry salesman, dockworker and a reporter for the Bridgeport Post, among a slew of other Connecticut newspapers. Recently, Belzer launched "Richard Belzer's Conversation," an interview show on YouTube's Intelligent Channel, part of YouTube and Google's original programming initiative that debuted in early 2012. Guests have included Dick Cavett, Ice-T, Documentarian Alex Gibney and Comedian Gilbert Gottfried.

Richard Belzer's Rock & Roll & Comedy Extravaganza will take place on Saturday, April 13 at 7pm at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street). Tickets, priced at $40 (orchestra) & $30 (mezzanine) can be purchased on line at www.Stage72.com.
