Karen Luschar Brings Acclaimed Show CHASING RAINBOWS: SONGS OF JUDY GARLAND to Don't Tell Mama

Karen Luschar brings her acclaimed show,Chasing Rainbows--Songs of Judy Garland to the famed cabaret, Don't Tell Mama, at 343 W. 46th Street for one more show on Monday, November 21st at 7pm.
Luschar celebrates this incredible icon and the songs she imprinted on the hearts of millions, capturing Judy Garland's heartbreaking vulnerability and spunk. With over 35 songs including The Boy Next Door, Swanee, Easter Parade, A Great Day for the Irish, I Love a Piano, The Trolley Song, But Not For Me, and Come Rain or Come Shine, Garland's story and music are seamlessly woven into this theatrical cabaret concert taking the audience through the exuberant highs and very difficult lows of Garland's personal life and career.
"Chasing Rainbows--Songs of Judy Garland is a show I have performed around the country for over 12 years, and also in the concert halls of Lincoln Center several years ago. I have never tried to imitate Judy, only to sing with passion, love and deep respect the outstanding music sung by this outstanding performer," explains Luschar.
Karen's dynamic three octave range and multiple array of talents have been seen on Broadway, Off-Broadway, at Lincoln Center, in national tours, performing arts venues, Japan, Canada, Las Vegas, cruise ships, conferences and commercials. She has performed in 49 states and a few of her theatre credits include Phantom of the Opera, Brigadoon, Oklahoma, Carousel, Cabaret, West Side Story, Baby, My Fair Lady, Student Prince, and The Boyfriend. She worked with the legendary Broadway impresario George Abbott on Broadway in a show which garnered international media celebrating his 100th birthday. She also spent three years in Never-Neverland performing with Sandy Duncan in Peter Pan and then three years in Camelot with Richard Harris and later with Robert Goulet.

Origin of the name: In the award-winning 1966 Broadway musical "Cabaret" by John Kander & Fred Ebb, the heroine Sally Bowles performs at The Kit Kat Club. She sings a racy, flirtatious song entitled "don't tell mama" explaining to the audience that her mama thinks she is living in a convent but actually she is working in a nightclub in a pair of lacy pants! All the implied naughtiness, high spirits and fun in the lyrics suggests this is indeed the place to be!
