CHRIS PUREKA w/ opener MARYLEIGH ROOHAN

Wednesday, December 17 at 7:00PM

$18

Compared to such names as Gillian Welch, Ryan Adams and Neil Young, singer/songwriter Chris Pureka's birdsong voice and gritty lyrics combine an Appalachian folk flavor with the observations of bittersweet human interactions. Playing New England coffeehouses at 16 years old, she has matured on the road and released five albums on her own label. Pureka's hypnotic lyrical odes to simple moments of a complicated life have become the staple of folk acoustic playlists for any Americana fan.

MaryLeigh Roohan has been described as having "the wisdom of an old soul in the body of a young, yearning individual." Whether it's her dynamic and passionate performances, or her poignant and honest songwriting, this sentiment has been expressed throughout Roohan's nascent career. Her style shifts seamlessly from sunny indie pop to heartfelt Americana and a stage presence that's full of dynamic soul. She's played with Jill Sobule, Sean Rowe, Theresa Andersson, Paranoid Social Club and Milo Greene.

WALTER MARTIN HOLIDAY SHOW feat. KAT EDMONSON + MORE

Thursday, December 18 at 7:00PM

$20

Walter Martin, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter for the Walkmen, found out his wife was pregnant with their first child just as the New York band was finishing work on their 2012 album Heaven. With fatherhood on the horizon, and adulthood an undeniable reality, Martin felt it was time to challenge himself a bit. It was while standing in his kitchen the summer before last, surrounded by his young family and listening to their collection of 1950s rock 'n' roll records, that he realized what that meant exactly. Those inklings led to 2014's We're All Young Together, Martin's debut solo effort, which was a hit with children and parents alike. Joined by pals like Kat Edmonson, Martin takes this same approach with this holiday show.

MIKE ERRICO HOLIDAY SHOW

Recipients will be invited to interpret the Omen's personal significance in the coming year. Hilarious, poignant or cautionary, they have proven to be alarmingly accurate.

PAM ANN: BAD AIR HOSTESS

Friday & Saturday, December 19 & 20 at 11:30PM

$30

Pam Ann's BAD AIR HOSTESS is a glamorous, heavy-drinking, drug-abusing, and fashion-obsessed international airhostess with more issues than Vogue. Pam Ann would rather flick the pages of fashion magazines in the galley, snort cocaine and scroll the Internet for 'love' than deal with her passengers. Pam Ann is destructive and reckless in her approach to life, always chasing the high but always left short of the runway. She says what other cabin crew would like to say and embraces terrorism! If you're easily offended or scared of flying this show is for you!

REVEREND BILLY & THE STOP SHOPPING CHOIR: MONSANTO IS THE DEVIL

Sunday, December 21 at 2:00PM

$15

What time is this? Time to party before the plague? Or is it more like the 20's between world wars? In 2014, stepping on stage in fire and drought, freak storms and extinction... Reverend Billy is feeling a strange joy in these first days of apocalypse. We need to rededicate ourselves to the politicizing of survival, pitting our freedom against the financiers of climate change. The singing-activists return to Joe's after last year's performances in Chase Bank lobbies, and New York jails and courts. In 2013, we were inspired by the extinction and resurrection of the Golden Toad. This year, the Honey Bee is the hero. The presence of the pesticides of "Big Ag" and the struggle by bees to survive, is inspiration for new songs, songs with lots of Bee-atitude, hard-working and sticky sweet.

STARSKY & COX: WHAT'S GOING ON

Sunday, December 21 at 7:00PM

$20

What's Going On answers the self-same question, in words and music; and in this premier holiday installment-A Winter's Solstice Saturnalia-Stella Starsky and Quinn Cox navigate you beyond a messy nativity, acclimating you to astrological climate change, letting you in on cosmic jokes, and gently shooing you toward enlightenment. Attend this season's revival of singing satyrs, sacrificial Holly Kings, bacchanalian school marms, talking Narnians and hale hierophants, led by the merriest metaphysicians this side of Bethlehem. With musical director Matt Ray and special guest NathAnn Carrera.

OUR LADY J'S THE GOSPEL OF DOLLY: HARD CANDY CHRISTMAS

JULIAN FLEISHER & FRIENDS HOLIDAY SHOW

Wednesday, December 24 at 7:30PM

Like Sammy Davis, Jr, Ethel Water and Mel Tormé before him, Julian Fleisher mixes masterful interpretations of a wide range of popular songs with kick-ass showmanship and a generously endowed band that -- as the Washington Post put it -- "blew the roof off of Joe's Pub."

ELI SCHWEBEL & THE A-MEN

Wednesday, December 24 at 9:30PM

$25 Adv / $35 Door

As producer and lead singer of the band Lev Tahor, Eli Schwebel spearheaded the renaissance of Jewish Acappella music, as well as creating a vocally rich, pop-rock sound that transformed the definition of traditional Jewish music. Wednesday, December 31 at 9:00PM & 11:00PM

$60-$200

Sandra Bernhard's new live show Sandra Bernhard is #blessed will spotlight her own unique, sharp blend of hysterical insight and outspoken views, with rock-n-roll, cabaret, stand-up and a little burlesque. Sandra Bernhard is #blessed also features Bernhard's band The Flawless Zircons, who perform with her at sold out venues in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and all points in between.

Of last year's holiday shows at Joe's Pub in Manhattan, Next Magazine wrote "Bernhard looked like 10 million bucks in a pair of black leather pants and a chic white blouse, her world was Sandyland and we were merely allowed to live in it. Her lacerating observations and spot-on social commentary remain as sharp and insightful as ever."
