Joan Rivers Accuses Comedian Lena Dunham of Promoting Obesity
Comedian Joan Rivers has recently insulted Lena Dunham, creator of the hit HBO series Girls, who she called a "hot mess." Rivers did say that she was "terrific" while a guest on the Howard Sern Show, but she went on to say of Dunham, "How can she wear dresses above the knee?" Rivers and Stern then went on to talk about Dunham's nudity in her show.
Stern defended Dunham, but Rivers accused her of promoting an unhealthy lifestyle and obesity. Rivers said, "You're sending a message out to people saying, 'It's OK, stay fat, get diabetes, everybody die. Lose your fingers.' "
Rivers went on to say that it was good of Dunham to spread her own message but that she should try to look more put together. The Fashion Police host said, "If you look that way you look, Lena, and that's fine and you're funny, don't say it's OK that other girls can look like this. Try to look better."
Rivers continued to call Dunham a hypocrtie for appearing on the cover of Vogue when she said, "She was on Vogue's cover looking gorgeous, you didn't even know it was her," the comedian complained.
