Jeff Dunham's ACHMED SAVES AMERICA Set for 3/18 Blu-ray, DVD Release
Jeff Dunham's beloved character Achmed the Dead Terrorist gets his own animated adventure when "Achmed Saves America," created by and featuring the voice talents of Dunham, is released on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, March 18. Released by Comedy Central Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment, the DVD will be available at Walmart and major retailers nationwide. The discs are currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
In "Achmed Saves America," Dunham's first animated film, the Little Skeleton That Couldn't unexpectedly finds himself in Americaville, USA. There, Achmed is mistaken as a French exchange student while he bumblingly plots to destroy the town and all its "infidels"; but when exposed to the sweet things in life, including all-you-can-eat buffets and frozen yogurt, Achmed's campaign of hate turns into a patriotic all-American lovefest.
Bonus features include a tour of Bento Box, the animation studio, one of the first script read-throughs, a voiceover session with Dunham, and audio commentary from Dunham and friends.
Fans can join Dunham and Achmed on Comedy Central on Sunday, March 16 from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. as they host a marathon of Dunham's specials: "Minding the Monsters," "Controlled Chaos," and "Spark of Insanity." Throughout the evening, the pair will be answering fan questions and showing sneak peeks from "Achmed Saves America."
Dunham has been called "the most popular comedian in the United States" by Time Magazine, and has been named to Forbes' Celebrity 100 list of most powerful entertainers three years running. His entourage of signature characters includes Walter, the grumpy retiree; the beer-swilling, NASCAR-loving and resolutely red neck Bubba J; the furry and manic Peanut; José Jalapeño, the spicy pepper from South of the border; the bumbling skeletal Achmed the Dead Terrorist; the almost as dead long-lost son of Achmed, AJ; and Peanut's own ventriloquist dummy: Little Jeff.
