Harlem School of the Arts has announced their upcoming performance of "Once On This Island." The award-winning musical takes place in the Caribbean and is one of the few all-black musicals. Once On This Island is directed by Department Director Aubrey Lynch and will take place on Saturday March 29 at 2:00 & 7:00pm.

Once On This Island features book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. It is based on the novel "My Love, My Love" by Rosa Guy.

Once On This Island is a captivating legend of romance between a peasant girl and a rich city boy whom she saves from death. This calypso-flavored re-telling of 'The Little Mermaid' opens on a Caribbean island where villagers comfort a little girl with the story of the orphan Ti Moune, destined to love too much for the human heart to bear. Featuring a cast of young talented performers from the Harlem School of the Arts, Once On This Island delivers melody, tropical beats and fun for the entire family! The show runs 45 minutes without an intermission.
