Broadway In Boston has unveiled the upcoming 2017-2018 Lexus Broadway Season at its annual spring Announcement event this evening. Eight theatrical productions take center stage at the Boston Opera House beginning next fall including the previously announced production of HAMILTON. Over 1000 people from around the city gathered to celebrate today's announcement including Broadway In Boston's Season ticket holders, group leaders, arts and business leaders, city officials, partners from around the city, sponsors and the Boston media. Highlights from the day included video messages from WAITRESS composer and six time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles, seven time Grammy Award winner Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan composers of ON YOUR FEET!, the cast of the National Tour of HAMILTON and live performances from cast members of FUN HOME, DISNEY'S ALADDIN, WAITRESS and LOVE NEVER DIES.

Rich in history, Broadway In Boston is proud to be Boston's leading theatrical presenter and producer of Broadway since 1984. For the past 33 years, more than six million theatergoers have experienced over 300 Broadway In Boston productions in many of the city's historic theatres including the Boston Opera House, The Colonial Theatre, The Wilbur Theatre and The Shubert Theatre. The Charles Playhouse, a Broadway In Boston venue, is home to long-running sensations Blue Man Group and Shear Madness.

Kicking off the 2017-2018 Lexus Broadway In Boston Season is the return of Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, one of the most successful musicals of all time. With a cast and orchestra of 52, this PHANTOM is one of the largest productions now on tour. Based on Vermont resident Alison Bechdel's best-selling graphic memoir, FUN HOME introduces us to Alison at three different ages as she explores and unravels the many mysteries of her childhood. A refreshingly honest musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes, FUN HOME was the winner of five 2015 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

The ultimate love story continues in LOVE NEVER DIES, Andrew Lloyd Webber's spellbinding sequel to The Phantom of the Opera. The year is 1907, ten years after his disappearance from the Paris Opera House. The Phantom has escaped to a new life in New York and in this new, electrically charged world, he has finally found a place for his music to soar, but he has never stopped yearning for his one true love and musical protégée, Christine Daaé. WAITRESS first premiered at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA in 2015 before being brought to life on Broadway by a groundbreaking all-female creative team. Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will return to Boston as part of a brand new North American Tour.
